Default Peacock 1 Open to Cavern Diving

As of Aug 17, 2009 the manager of PSSP has opened Peacock 1 to cavern diving. Orange Grove will remain closed to open water divers and cavern divers until it clears up.

Was in there yesterday and the cavern looked pretty good. Pothole to Olsen was still pretty dusty eating up my light but nice enough for me. Nitrates have got the openwater in P1 and Olsen really slimey. I hate to see that, I like the naked rocks.

Thanks for that info Jim. Does this mean that my son can dive there (in the cavern area) with me as he did at Orange Grove? He's NAUI Jr. advanced open water.

No, at Peacock 1 a Cavern Card or above is always required.

Edit: if he entered the cavern at Orange Grove he broke the rules.

This is correct. Cavern certs are required to go cavern diving at PSSP.

That must have changed recently. I realize right now OG is blown out but when OW is clear OW divers could dive it with no lights.

Open water diving is fine at OG, when conditions permit. - Cavern diving requires at least a cavern certification at PSSP, whether it be OG, or P1

Thanks for clearing that up Jim. Without lights any overhead in OG would be very limited.
