Default Peacock Springs open for diving

The underground trail committee recommended to Park Manager Tom Brown the system is clear enough to dive. The water is clean however it is still tannic colored. If you are NOT full cave we ask you check it out and dive at your own discretion and cave instructors to take their students in at their own discretion. Viz is about 30' now & clearing everyday. The flow is also high, Bill R. says he does not remember ever seeing a boil as big as the system has at P1 now. Also remember the system has been darkend from the tannic water so your viz may not feel to be as great as you would like it to be. Please dive with care.

Wow! Sounds like it'll look a whole different system with the walls covered and the fin marks erased. Neat.

    Thanks for the update.

I dove peacock the day it opened after the last big flood. That was the best time to dive it... looked like a river cave...

I understand the walls are stained dark...
How often has this occurred historically? And how long does it take to "get back to normal"?
