Peacock Springs open to full cave diving ONLY.

Upon recommemdation of Park Manager Tom Brown and Jim Fishback, Undergroud Trail Chairman, the park is open to full cave divers only.
No instruction dives are permitted until further notice. If you are not full
cave certified you will not be permitted to dive. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Probably the rangers will look at your C-card on your dash (where it is supposed to be). I would assume that they will leave behind a ticket if you aren't supposted to be diving there.

The conditions I had at Peacock Sunday (Nov 7) was 20+ feet visibility. And there is a strong current on both the Peanut line and the main line. now. The walls, floor and ceiling of the cave was covered with growth. and my buddies HID lights look like back up light with poor batteries.

Any one who wants a advanced Cave dive for the fun of it should come to Peacock and see it when it these conditions. They will not last long.

I do have a request for anyone diving Peacock. Please help clean the line off so it can be seen a lot easier.

Peacock system is being dove by the line committe and the changing conditions are being reported to the park dept.

I just dove Peacock Springs today. Our plan originally was to try for Peacock 3, but it was too nasty to even try. Our next plan was to try for lower Peacock 1, but was informed by a couple divers who had recently come up that lower was really bad. So, that left upper Peacock 1. Unfortunately, the ranger lady arrived too late to tell us Orange Grove was reported to be clearer, but we were already suited up by that point.

Vis started out bad up to the grim reaper sign; about 10 feet or so. Once in the peanut tunnel, vis extended to 15 or 20 feet. Algae is everywhere; it's covering the line (we cleaned some of it off), your bubbles make it percolate off the ceiling and what you think might be a rock is really a mass of algae. Current was flowing pretty strong (1-1.5 knots), but we made it to the 1000' mark.

Not sure why you have to be Full Cave, as an experienced Intro or Apprentice level diver could do this dive with no problem.

Don and I dove Peacock on Sunday the 7th... dove the peanut tunnel past the breakdown area.... the walls soaked up my hid to no vis. the line is covered with thick vegatation. In my opinion, the entire line system needs to be cleaned...At most 15 feet of vis. Ken

Everybody keeps stating the vis is pretty low....you stated less than 10' at the beginning of the dive...isn't there a published minimum starting visibility for Intro and Apprentice level divers?

Isn't it like 20 or 30 ft min for intro? Not sure about apprentice.

min vis for level of training is 30 feet. When we reached a point that did not meet that level of training, we called the dive...
