Personally I would be less concerned with getting cave line wrapped up in my prop than getting it tangled up in that stupid manifold and crap some people insist wearing on their back.I can see having a removable prop as a nice safety feature but how many scooter dives have been done without it and I don't ever recall a fatality from an experienced dpv diver because of this. I remember the guy a few years ago in Vortex who borrowed a scooter and was scootering in sidemount passage at 150+ feet deep on air and got hung up in the line. Somehow I really don't think the prop was the issue here. I would not get rid of my SS scooters just for this feature as I don't see the value. Now if I was looking at a new scooter I might consider this feature but from my experience with SS it would be hard for me to change. And as was mentioned earlier I drive a F-350 with a 7.3 L diesel that has almost 400,000 miles on it because it works and is alot simpler than the new trucks.
I've had stuff jam up the prop twice (not in a cave). Once was stupidity when scootering shallow over weeds. The other was misc mystery line in the water column - never saw it, just suddenly all over the prop mid water. Neither required prop removal, but I see the value in being able to.

Im fine w/a removable prop. Slick feature. Necessary? I dont really think so.
I've had mono as an issue but cleared it without removal or problems.
As I said in the beginning: Both are great products. Pick according to which features appeal to you or fit your need and consider the other variables (service, track history, cost, etc) that influence your decision making process.
Matters none to me, frankly, as it will not change my mind a bit.
I'm not pro Submerge or Anti Suex. The one I use works for me and there is not enough data or support to move. On the contrary, the needs I've had as a cave diver/wreck diver/whatever-diver have solidified my choice in Submerge. And Light Monkey. And other local brands and other locally owned businesses. Steve Gamble's service and workmanship is why I like my seals to wear out and therefore require changing by him rather than swap w/a ring.
I will need the local services and skills of people beyond the simple. I will need specialized things I cannot do. Itll suck when I have to ship my suit to DUI to have a boot put on rather than drop it off w/Steve.
I do not relish that day.
And there is no way I want to ship my scooter to CA or Italy for service beyond what a dealer can do...but, I'm ok if thats your choice.
Me, I've had a lot more need for specialized support than for a removable prop. Or a different shaft seal. Oh, and I have limited funds to support this asinine hobby/obsession.
This discussion has, for the most part, been intelligent and well thought out and has provided pros and cons for various units. I hope it has helped the OP.

Despite this fact, I would love to get up there and dive with you. Hell, I hope you use a Genesis!

I'm not trying to argue that a removable prop is required or anything.
But if you're buying a new scooter and your options include models that have it, I would certainly recommend a scooter WITH it vs one without it.
I like the fact that I can MECHANICALLY bump the prop on my SS scooters to depitch, should the trigger, wire or electronics go nuts.
Is that still possible with a removable prop on the Suex or Genesis scooters?
