Hey Jon. I'd be interest to hear what you could do to change the silt in the trigger issue, and is it something you would be offering on a regular basis. I've read Peter's comments about the trigger stick. I'm in no way saying I didn't believe him, I just hadn't heard it from anyone else until recently. A buddy recently demoed the unit at Wayne's and had the trigger stick from debris as well. As stated it was easily fixable with a quick tap. I ask because I've been intrigued in the ingenuity you've put into the scooters, but would worry about the silt issue if I was in the market.
Jon, it's a minor point, but that shop with the 1500 has two owners. Hence my post. At any rate, the trigger issue is no secret among cave divers. And frankly, your scooter has a lot of innovation and some great things about it. But if you want more of the market share (because frankly, here in Florida, you have the smallest portion of market share) give cave divers what they want. It's something Rodney has been very good at since the beginning.
After almost twenty years of scootering in caves and open water (occasionally) no foul ups in my props. Call it lucky, call it skill, call it weenerdog scootering. Given the choice of a removable prop for the sake of clearing a jam up (not likely) or the built in failure point of a removable prop, no contest. I'll take the permanent prop. One of the reasons why all my scooter clutches are screwed tight,no worries about them after they fail the first time. Another point that has been missed is that the shaft seal of a Tekna, Mako, Gavin, and Silent are one in the same design wise. There are many ways to execute the seal, but they are one in the same and in my opinion all of them work pretty damn good when taken care of by the owner.
The trigger currently activates when the magnet approaches the sensor axially. I can change it so the magnet passes across the face of the sensor radially, sweeping any silt away instead of pinching it between the two parts.
Yeah, I know but they are planning on getting a second 1500 so they can stop arguing about who gets it. I need to machine up another batch of handles, so it is a good time for a trigger design change.

Setting the new standard for performance and technology
You wait. Think about how useful voice activated speed control would be. It wouldn't be impossible. Completely hands free device that works like a buddy phone pressed up against your face. No switch to get clogged with dirt and debris...
With the advancements in technology lately the use of a sounds operated control could be right around the corner.
I'll troll on in my head I suppose. It was the first thing that came to mind.

Bluntly: that picture w/no details is worthless. That looks like a complete unit in his hand, unbroken. Unscrew? Shaft break?
Sorry, but while I see the point of sharing the occurrence I fail to grasp its relevance without more detail.
I can share a personal experience that has been left out till now, though--I had the whole assembly fall apart once in OW quite a way from the boat. When I had not properly assembled the unit. Why didnt I share it till no? Zero relevance.
My Light Monkey light failed once when I didnt connect the battery. What a piece of shiite.
Tongue in cheek, but really. Frame of reference please.
Oh, and those three guys look cute....did they have to spread apart or squeeze together to get the picture?
Bob
problem with the loctite on the one screw that holds that thing all together. got some dirt in it and it backed out completely. couldn't be fixed
