Is there any truth to the rumor I was told that Genesis is not setting up a true dealer network like SS has done. I was told that anyone could buy a Genesis direct from the manufacturer. I can see from a dealer standpoint where this would not be the way to go. If it is true I could see this being an issue with availability at a local dive shop.
If anyone wants a Genesis with the trigger pocket open on the bottom to allow easy clearing of silt, that is available at no extra charge. I have had silt behind the trigger a couple times in caves and all that is required to clear it, is to flip the trigger a few times underwater to flush it out. It has never taken more than a couple seconds for me to clear. Genesis owners don't have a problem with it, but there are a few people on this forum who have borrowed a scooter, didn't now how to clear it and were vocal about their experience. It is a matter of knowing how to use it, since not all scooters are the same. It would be like borrowing dive computer that you have never used before and then complaining that you did not know how to switch deco gasses when it was time.
When I dive the Genesis, I keep the trigger locked ON and control ON/OFF and speed with the thumb lever. When my hand is off the handle, the trigger is locked OFF, which helps prevent debris from getting behind the trigger. Like everything, there is some degree of learning curve.
The issue I see with having a variable speed control away from the handle is that it requires two hands to operate and if you are stretched out, it would seem annoying to reach up to the tube and adjust the speed while moving, especially if you were making frequent speed changes to match your buddy.
We have three dealers in Florida, Add Helium, Amigos and Cave Connections where you can try a scooter and talk to someone that can explain the benefits. If you want to buy direct, you can, but we do not undercut our dealer's price. The dealer margins on our scooters are small compared to the other brands, which is why they are typically not stocked. We make a scooter with superior thrust, superior efficiency, superior speed control, superior recharge convenience and a superior shaft seal, but have to compete with less expensive, lower performance scooters. You get what you pay for.

Logic Dive Gear - Genesis DPV's
Setting the new standard for performance and technology
I think there's a difference in how people dive their scooters. Generally, I try and match the speed with my buddy early on and I don't fiddle with it unless something changes (smaller cave, different payload, lower visibility passage, etc).
Even then, reaching up to the scooter with my left hand isn't something that I really even think about. I move my light from the left hand to my right (driving hand) thumb when I dump my wing and sometimes when I'm adding gas to my suit/wing/ears. So reaching the scooter with my left hand is a really frequent thing over the course of a dive.
Really? That's interesting because I've talked to two of your dealers who own a 1500 that said they've had a few conversations with you about the trigger issue. I'd bet these two guys have more time on a genesis trigger than anyone else cave diving. And if they don't know how to "use it", then I'm not sure the masses want it. I know you don't get this, because you don't cave dive much, but cave divers want gear that just works. Not gear that we have to fiddle with, work around, tap tap tap on it, etc. We should be able to hit the trigger and go. Not hit the trigger, and nothing happen. The weighting of your scooter sticks the trigger perfectly in the silt every single time. At 300' deep and deco racking up or your buddy on the SS scooter is WAY ahead of you, do you really want to have to overcome the engineering flaw? NO. How about you just take the feedback seriously and come up with a better design and quit trying to say, "It's not a big deal if you know how to fix it once it becomes jammed". How about it just doesn't get jammed to begin with.
You realize the only reason I'm not diving this scooter, neither is none of my friends is because it doesn't go when you hit the button? Fix the button. Geesh.
Agreed ^
