Victor, I previously created a thread on testing different scooters and features important to me. I'm on my phone, otherwise I would post a link.
Now Eric, if I knew how to insert one of the little smiley faces with rolling eyes I would insert it here. I know it's tongue in cheek from you, but the WKPP is a legit outfit, they do incredible work. Gone are they days of the force feeding, I wish folks could let go of their past feeling and recognize the WKPP is just a group of divers that really enjoy cave diving, and working toward a common goal. I consider Casey and many of the guys friends. I really don't think Casey or anyone cares what kind of scooters I use.
Thanks, kevin. I forgot that was you that started that other thread.
I do find some humor in the fact Marianna based divers are often quick to joke and make fun of WKPP/DIR/GUE divers for being a cult or a group of divers who only see things one way. Yet, if you turn the tables and head to Marianna 95% of what you see is Hollis rigs, Pinnacle drysuits, and dive rite fins worn by the disciples of a muscular leader. See any similarities?
Bamafan, I did not mean you directly. Your joke was just an example of a sentiment that's been becoming more and more evident lately from that neck of the woods.
I make that joke more frequently than I do GUE jokes. The similarities don't end there. Bobby lights back mounted, Petrels on wrist slates, and dive rite reels are also on that list.
I've noticed myself gravitating that way, but I much prefer slipstream fins. I'm a rebel! One reason for that migration had been deals too good to refuse. I needed a drysuit and funds for a more expensive one weren't available.
Another note: Edd's head instructor is diving a halcyon contour, a waterproof drysuit, and front mounting stages.... so not 100% identical.
Victor and Richard, you guys are in deep trouble, you just don't know it yet. LOL
I think anybody on this forum is in trouble. This hobby seems to be a slippery slope of money being spent. This thread is a great example: We're talking about spending another $5k-$6k on a big, plastic tube to take our rubber-clad butts farther from [-]sanity[/-] the surface.
