Hard to believe there is so much concern over, for still unknown reasons, such an accomplishment. We have practically all entered this activity for the different challenges it creates in each of us. Which one of us would not get excited about the possibility of exploring a new, or a new part of an existing cave, system? If that’s not the case, why even venture off the main line? The majority are not prepared to even take on such an endeavor. Hard to imagine the amount of preparation put into this project. Hours and hours of devotion to this passion throughout a multitude of years, gaining the expertise and honing the skills to even contemplate the requirements needed for even an attempt at this goal. Not to mention the amount of personal resources, time and money!

There will always be one person or group, condemning another for accomplishments they desired to complete, usually for selfish reasons.

There will always be exploration, no matter how enormous a project or how small and trivialized by others, all over the world, on this planet and beyond, in many different aspects of life, science and faith.

Only one person can be the first. Congrats Andrew. Looking forward to the article.

Whats worse is that someone thinks that stopping publication would limit the readership.... if anything, routing to one, or both of the journals artificially limits the audience to interested and/or trained cave divers; the kind of people who SHOULD know better than to dive beyond their means, as its endlessly hammered home in every issue I read.

Andrew is no idiot, he's about as active on the forums as anyone,.... there's nothing to stop him from posting it here, TDS, RBW, gosh - even Scubaboard,... But no..., write something up, submit it to one (or both) of the cave journals (who have been continually soliciting content from the membership) and get shot down by the 'establishment'...

    Where's the love...

To clarify: he hasn't been shot down by the cave journal but by certain individuals. Individuals who would never want to hold the NACD back.

You know, I was going to to weigh in here with my own post on all this BS, but SAB, you have spoken well, and have articulated what I also wanted to say! A GREAT first post on here, that's for sure. So let me say "mega dittos."

Some of you may be aware that Andrew and I had a bit of a disagrement on another Forum about a year ago. Instead of taking additional internet swipes at each other we both had the opportunity, some time later, to sit down and get to know one another. From my perspective, I have not met a more intelligent and gifted person out there (even with you in the mix Bill...haha); one who really cares about advancing the cave community in particular. Andrew will share anything and everything that he is about and I hope his article on a new line that I will probably never get to see hits the newsstands soon! Jackie and I were at Ginnie the week that Andrew did his "push" diving in the same general vicinity near the end of the Gold and there was never one wisp if silt or other crap coming out from where his dive really started. More than I can say for my own technique in an average side Ginnie passage......!

As to you Tom, I can't believe that after all the great and wonderful things you said that you were going to do for the NACD a year ago during the election, you would actually publish the comment "The authors of this supposed article are not residents of the North Florida area nor do they even live on the Right Coast." as for one reason in not wanting this article published. I guess that means living in Charleston, SC and Marietta, GA somehow puts both of us in a lower class of divers? Man, am I ever glad that I didn't vote for you

Elisha is correct (ignoring the sarcasm in the second sentence). In particular, Larry has been nothing less than a gentleman through all of this.

Another clarifying point - I am NOT the only person diving back there. I [point this out because I don't view myself as that talented - just pushy! Several other very talented divers are (definitely more talented than me), and indeed the end of line has been pushed repeatedly since I briefly held that honour. I just don't want to force them into the public domain. They can enter if and when they want.

The authors of this supposed article are not residents of the North Florida area nor do they even live on the Right Coast. They have virturally nothing to lose if the article is published and Ginnie Springs blocks diving from their property.
A very disappointing comment from someone in your position Tom.
I must say, you certainly seem very bitter, and I truly hope you only made these comments in anger.

    Very sad for your community.

The authors of this supposed article are not residents of the North Florida...
This truly is BULL****! You dumb-assed losers applaud the explorers of Weeki Wachee and Wakulla but moan when you have be so incredibly bested. What little 4-year olds you are. Did you really get your asses kicked in grade school so bad that you now feel that you have the opportunity to gain retribution?

Tom, you are the pot calling the kettle black. You are not a resident of FL; you are a resident of SC and with that I am disappointed if you are a son of SC as I am and EXTREMELY proud of my family's 500 year presence in SC. Are you trying to carpet-bag another state? Apparently you just leach off Florida while you drive down with your psuedo-cool CAVDIVR [sic] license plate -- wow you are cool. Stay in SC and I am woefully sorry I supported you last year. What a ****ing waste!

Grow the **** up everyone, there will always be exploration! Isn't that why you cling to the Internet boards? You all want to live vicariously through someone else but when real explorations happens in your backyard you are taken aback? Wake the **** up...instructor does not equal explorer...not even ****ing close (remember the addage - those that can't teach, those that can do!).

There is so much ****ing line to be laid in NFL it is stupid? How many of you ****heads have dove Gator (Agnes has -- and laid line), How many of you posers have been to Wilson, O'Leno, Rose, McCormick or even Siphon Creek (**** the list goes on and on and on and on?) Oh let me guess...not a ****ing one or you! If you are sad because your fat lack of exploration asses cant get to the back of Ginnie then go the **** home and smoke another bowl -- apparently it makes you guys feel good. Maybe you are better pulling shark's teeth from the Cooper -- I am sure Tom can set that massive dive exploration up for you...

Marius, Mark, Andrew(155'), Agnes (phenomenal photographer), James (164')...I salute you!
