Its my understanding that there are only a select few in N. Fla that are "qualified" to lay line in new cave passage..... or at least that is the way they feel about it !!!!

You know those "how many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb?" jokes? Well, I'm looking for the funniest answer to:

How many cave divers does it take to explore new cave?

(I'm thinking it's in the hundreds....)

Depends on who you ask, I can think of several that would answer just one...and maybe a couple that would answer just two.....

But you know what they say about opinions.....

you are forgetting that we need a good many in the peanut gallery, and I'm thinking a couple should be needed for an old fashioned brawl

Without us left coasters, northerners, out of towners, foreigners, etc. coming to Cave Country and spending our vacation time, hard earned money etc., there would not be much of a cave diving industry in North Central Florida to enjoy! Obviously, we all need to work together to help promote access, property owner relations, etc., but lay off the "wrong coasts" comments. They are completely inappropriate and embarrassing to the cave diving community!

In martial arts, there's a saying that it's the revenue from the kids that keep the schools open for the adults. I think the same is true here. All the business brought to NFL by out-of-towners helps the local community, to the benefit of the locals. We all benefit from a larger dive community and the resulting competition keeps prices reasonable. So let's not beat up too much on those that live outside the approved zip codes.

The publicity would bring more divers to Ginnie, boosting revenue. So how could they possibly object? Until I saw the tunnel leading to the the Ice Room, I was surprised how badly the cave was trashed back in the low areas. At some point, Ginnie has to consider that if the place gets too trashed that local divers may be less likely to buy an annual pass. In the Dojo, discipline would never allow the kids to bust the place up.

I dove Ginnie from a boat once... It may be cheaper, but it's too much like work. I would much rather pay the entrance fee.

I cannot believe you guys. We all know that the owners of Ginne Springs are safety minded (money whoring), customer service conscious (money whoring), conservation minded (money whoring), pristine enviornment preserving (money whoring), instructor supporting (money whoring), security conscious (money whoring), people that take the cave diving community very seriously. (And I said the owners, NOT the manager)

You tell em Capt Tom, send all them fuzzy little foriegners all back home. They should not be breathing compressed Florida Air. I mean we even had europeans coming over and drowning at Ginne, those clods. How dare they drown in George W.'s 'merica? Drown at home you fools. We want only red blooded southern americans drowning in our caves. None of you west coast pinkos, or damn yankees.

Perhaps someone should post the petition, or at lease the entire text, that way the community can understand their concerns fuller...

If it's ego.., I think it'll be fairly obvious...
If they have a safety or conservation concern, it can at least be addressed and discussed vs. arbitrary and/or unilateral decision making.
