    Default Eagles Nest 12/6

Upstream EN to the end of the line was 50-60 feet of viz with a few spots dropping and a few spots better.

At the end of the line, looking into the cave with the daisy chain in front of you, the lower right (deeper section) was tannic starting at 252 and was 5 feet of viz.

Lots of poking and prodding around and 4hrs 45 minutes later we surface.

Viz in the basin was pretty good at about 50 feet...ish.

What part of a cave is a basin?

    Thanks for the report.

    Smartass comment or genuine confusion?

I hope its smartass as that is always encouraged.

Haha, no, I mean it, it think I missed the part of the class that explained it or have simply forgot.

I see the term used a lot here and I struggle to figure it out, and am too lazy to pull out the books. If all caves have it, my best guess is the area surrounding the cavern, basin----> cavern----> cave, is that it?

Some people would call it the "head pool". It is the open water above the cave entrance. At Eagles Nest, there is a really big head pool/basin.

WHEW... thought I was making a really long list of people I should not dive with by being on the CDF.... Glad to know that I might actually be fitting in....

    Cyber stalking is discouraged.

    Diving is encouraged.

Creating favorite cave lists before 100 cave dives is...well...frankly, I'm not sure what but I am certain it is not proper etiquette.

    Might. Might not. Meh.

Forrests' explanation is spot on, I only included it for the Nest as it can be bad. Pretty darn bad. And it makes it less enjoyable.

But not as bad as Alachua can be.

Also, some people have pretty detailed spread sheets created to try and predict when EN will have the best viz and what the head pool (basin) conditions are is usually included.

These spread sheets are posted somewhere?
We were there on thursday as well around 10-1ish.
It was my first time and very nice dive.
