I did my first dive at the nest today. Vis in the basin 5-10 feet. The cave was 20-30 feet. A lot of water in the puddles.
Larry Green, my thanks to you and the entire group that worked to get that site open. How Cool! The steps are nice, the picnic tables are handy. I had a lot of fun and hope to dive it again sometime when I can actually see the cave! I also had a lot of fun 4 wheeling out to the site. My new little 4 wheel drive did great! My van would never have made it. I named the new Honda "muddy" today. Cindy

How fast are you going? There was some water, before muddy hit it.

As Cindy said, 5ft or so in the basin, improving to about 10' at around 35-40'. Chip and I scootered upstream, and the visibility seemed, to us, about 15-20ft. You could see the light from another diver a little farther away if it was pointed at you, but don't count on seeing YOUR light illuminating anything more than 15-20ft away. The vis was poor enough that I dialed my scooter down to 3.

Pretty darn fast! TJ did it for me as a set up photo. I want to send it to the dealer who was so proud of how pretty the rig was when I drove it home Wed. night. I was going pretty fast and after the puddle realised TJ was still standing in the road. I slammed on the brakes and fishtailed a little. I missed TJ by about four inches! I think his hair turned grey. Cindy

I went to the Nest on Sunday (7/17/05) and did a scooter dive with Mike. The visibility was the worst that I have ever seen in Eagles Nest. You know it's bad when you’re the first divers at the site and the pond only has about 2' of visibility looking in at the steps. The top of the pond is covered with mats of algae.

The basin was 5' - 10', the cavern was 10' - 20' and upstream was about 10' - 20'. It's still a nice dive, but the conditions aren't that great. I also noticed more ruts in the road and lots of extra holes filled with water. You can still get back there in 2 WD, but a 4 X 4 makes it easier. 8)

Nice ride Cindy! Maybe you can recommend a good PT for TJ to work on his reflexes. You know at his age.... some folks just start falling apart.

Now you just need to bring your new scooter up here and do some real 4wheelin'.

Sounds like I didn't miss too much then this weekend - sitting it out because of a temporary crown on my teeth... well, except for running into all of you all... Was supposed to be there except for the dentistry...The mud boggin' would have been fun getting there, but with my van's luck as of late it would have broken down on that road and blocked EVERYONE from getting to and from the nest and then you all would be pissed at me... Haha! So I was better off sitting home and doing some of my domestic fun chores this weekend..

Mike - hope to see you again soon and do another dive...
Chip - CCR supposed to be back within 2 weeks !! Not holding my breath! We'll see...
