Well, you are for the better then. I can guarantee you that after reading everything I could on that situation, I would have no problem diving with you, and neither would most of us on this board I am sure. Watching someone die, especially a good friend, is not easy and you seemed to handle things as well as anyone could ever expect to do. You may have lost some that were not so good friends, but you gained a heck of a lot more dive buddies here!

That's absolutely ridiculous. You are better off without them.

Thanks for all the kind responses, I appreciate it.

Like I said I've gotten over it, and Rob you are correct, I'm better off without them.

My only point in bringing it up was as a possible explanation of another reason why we don't get the analysis we'd like after a incident.

Something I'd encourage every one of you to do, is discuss your thoughts on accident analysis with your dive buddies. In my case it was a conversation Richard and I had, and we both felt very strongly that we would very much want people to learn from our mistakes, and that can only happen if the information gets out to the community.

Sorry you had to go through that.

I really, really dislike the should've, could've, ought to've mentality. Those weirdos think the KNOW more than the guy who was there.

But when you look at the incidents like the WKPP and Cozumel incidents, I haven't seen any backlash there. At least I didn't get any after the Cozumel incident. Granted, that was a CO issue, but still.

There are at least 20 something lines in the first thousand feet or so and it's REALLY easy to get turned around. A bunch of it is two-three feet high with silt stakes.

I can't believe some of you are suggesting anything other than total ineptitude on behalf of this "instructor"...are you friggin kidding me with the maps aren't accurate enough, what could he do if he didn't fit or that it's easy to get turned around in the first 1k of JB nonsense.

The instructor panicked and damn near killed two people...this is totally unsat. What he deserves is barracks justice. No chance i'm abandoned, facing death and coming up to that weak obese goofball without physically assaulting him...sometimes the legal penalties are worth paying, and this is one of those times.

At the risk of laying my neck upon the Guillotine, mdax, do you know what the rest of us don't? Were you there? Were you one of the "students"?

Why and whatfore should allow you to pass summary judgement? Good answers allowed and respected, others ...... well,

While the instructor made an error going in the wrong tunnel, he certainly picked the right person to do the rescue. Going for help, if you can't fit into a tunnel is not exactly "panic". Sure he was hyper, who wouldn't be?

Without being there, I really can not say what happened, so I don't want to come to the assumption that someone panicked. Yes, it sounds like they did. However, this is just like the court case of Casey Anthony. I caught a lot of crap from people because I stated that she was found "not guilty", and explained that it is different then being found "innocent", and that none of us were in the court room, so we do not have all the facts. I actually have people whom I considered friends not talking to me for that. Only three people know what truly happened, and each of them has their own version of what they recall. Until we can get all the facts, if we ever do, no one will know exactly what happened.

It would appear to me that a lot more information is known by many people, including those commenting on here, but they are not putting it out. I can respect that.

Oh, and this is sooooo last month. It's all about being an activist and Kony 2012 now people. You and your shallowness amazes me. lol..

Sorry to make a joke about two serious subjects, but I figured it needed some humor, and the two topics cancel each other out.
