Default Interpretive Trail at Peacock SP

Had the pleasure of hiking the new trail at Peacock SP this past Friday. Very nice experience! Hats off to Kelly and all those who helped. Nice job from the NFSA.

Only one suggestion, the trail was a little confusing to follow in a couple places, with the fall leaves obscuring the trail. How about cave arrow blazes painted on trees along the trail?

I did a easy run along the trials during my October visit. Really enjoyed it....

Got off the trails myself and think I maybe found some that weren't really part of the interpretive trial (around Cisteen?) You could see the work involved in getting it where it is and I really appreciated what the folks have done there.

Plan to contribute myself when I have a little more time down there.

Thanks everyone for all the work put into this place for others to enjoy.

There are trail maps in the Kiosks.

How can you expect a cave diver to follow any route that doesn't have any gold line?

More work is scheduled to improve the trail & the ease of navigation. Line arrows will help make it easier. NFSA thanks all those who sponsored kiosks and who helped make the trail a reality.

Glad you walked it. We have several things in the works that will aid this. We have several of the brown park signs on order which will indicate parts of the trail and pedestrain crosswalk, but also, since this a virtual cave dive we will have line arrows on posts along the way to help people stay on the trail.

we walked it first week of nov - very nice! yeah, a bit more marking like planned will be helpful, but the trail overall is a great idea that came out well.

So in effect the cave divers taking the trail will be walking one direction (arrows pointing out) and the non cave divers will be walking the other way in the direction of the arrows.

Building on that, if you use double arrows in the middle and have arrows pointing out in both directions, the non cave divers will get really confused.

Of course we also noticed that if you surface in Olsen now, you could have people staring at you. Takes away some of the "pretty" in doing that.

That doesn't bother me at all. It will be nice for non-divers to acutally see one of the more remote sinkholes that they could not see before without some knowledge of the park. Look at it this way....during skeeter season, maybe they will attract the flying vampires away from us that pop up.

    Hi
We walked the path at React. The only comment I have is that there were still some stumps in the trail, especially in the first portion, probably from freshly cut bushes/trees and they could be a tripping hazard.
Other than that it was pretty cool
