Manatee - 08/31/2008

Did a dive at Manatee Sunday morning (Friedman's).
Water level in the sink was up and had a small issue finding the line ( lol ). The stick it's tied to was floating around in the basin. We went upstream about 600 feet from Friedman's and the flow was quite strong. After turning and heading downstream , once we got downstream of Friedman's , the vis started to turn milky. Once we got near Sue's , the vis was only about 20-30 feet and dropped to between 10-20 feet once we arrived at Catfish. We exited at Manatee and got blown around coming out ( lol ).

Not a bad dive!!! Nice ride in the flow but the vis was down.

And the mosquitoes weren't all that bad.

You are doing a great job with all of these dive reports! I think I've read three different ones from you just tonight, (Manatee, Peacock and Cow).
I've been trying to get out and dive this past week but my family is keeping me busy. This weekend though....
I did dive Cow a week ago (last Tuesday) and I had a great dive. I had the whole place to myself with the exception of hundreds of mosquitoes, (as you noted too). I wanted to go back underwater ASAP....

I understand that there was a problem with the line tied to the floating stick. I didn't actually see it myself so I can't say for certain. Anyway, so I tied a new line from a cyprus knee about 5 ft above the current water level down to the mainline. I didn't see the old line, but it may be loose in the water so don't get snagged on it.
