    Default Manatee 3-5-2008

Rangers are not allowing cave divers to exit via the head spring, not exactly sure why, guess I should have asked. The system may be on the verge of reversing.

EGIB [aka: Elisha, aka: "E"] and I entered Catfish. I swam my LP85's past Friedman's sink today. I was getting close to thirds but I was more concerned about racking up some major deco so I turned it. As it turned out, staying up high when I could, the deco wasn't so bad.

Almost zero flow, barely discernible. If there wasn't any light coming down the shaft at Sue, you wouldn't even know you were swimming buy it, that's how low the flow is.

Vis was a little milky but easily 60ft if not more, better than my dive there on Friday!!

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

Yah, I wasn't even tired after the dive...that's how low the flow was.

They usually close the head spring for one of two reasons: tannic/zero vis or manatees in the run.

It would be disconcerting to go flying out of the head spring and slam head first into a manatee!
