Default Quarterly Online Air Quality Results - Post Them Up!

I'm asking every dive shop that i fill with to post their air quality results online.

I see this as the first step...i'd additionally like to have the historical results posted as well.
I have only one set of lungs and i treat them well and have no time for shops that tell me to "trust them".

Ask your shop why they aren't posting these results to the net for everyone to examine...heck they ALL have internet sites, there is NO EXCUSE!

Fill Express had sent me their link earlier. Good work!

You obviously have some aptitude when it comes to websites, why not create one for Quarterly Online Air Quality Results. The easy way would be to post a link to a static page. If you want to get fancy keep the information in a database, along with basic parameters, locations of sites, availability of a cave fill, etc... I'm sure you could sell ad space too. Make sure it displays well on a mobile browser and you are set!

    sounds like a good idea.
However i'll be honest, this request seems to generate antagonism, angry responses, confusion or distraction tactics from shops. I'm not sure more than 2-4 total shops would post to a site, heck i've only ever seen 2 posted so far to my threads...certainly they'd never pay for ads.
It seems there is a general apathy regarding public disclosure of test results online and only customer driven economic factors can change that.

I love my lungs, i treat them well and laugh when i'm faced with anger or threats. It'd actually be more entertaining to record the negative interactions and post them online. However that'd require an anonymous server in northern europe to shelter from lawsuits and the cave drama just wouldn't be worth it.

As long as your doing this, you should get the procedure they use for testing. Is just before, or just after a filter change? Are they testing straight from the compressor or some ther method?...etc

Also post up whether or not they use a CO monitor.

    Cool idea BTW.

Fill Express has an in-line constant CO monitor with a digital readout and audible alarm, mounted on the primary fill panel, facing all customers that walk through the front door for all to see.

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

    That is AWESOME!!!
You are setting the bar high with respect to communicating air quality data to customers.
I'd like all shops to rise to the level of communicating quality air that you provide. Bravo!

Our certificate is posted on the wall beside the fill station. I don't think the owner would post it online, but we don't do fills over the internet - only in person.

I've heard the no fills over the internet excuse, weak sauce.

How about asking WHY wouldn't owners post them, maybe because they don't actually get them quarterly, or maybe the results are not good or possibly *SHOCKER* that they are not truthful and don't get them at all...i'm open to hearing a logical answer..however how about that i value my lungs, that people lie and that i'd never spend a cent in a shop that won't post them publicly for EVERYONE to see.

But it's no problem, shops don't have to post anything.
I'll be sure NEVER to go there for fills. Why would anyone spend money at shops that are not open with this information? Many shops are more than happy to embrace the internet to take my money for products and market their "services"...kind of odd to selectively embrace this technology..don't you think?

I shouldn't have to travel in person to a shop to wander around looking for their certificate and listen to them yammer away...many dive shops are in economic peril exactly because of this attitude...and they deserve to be shuttered and have customers leave.

so other than the cute "fills are not over the internet" catch line i'd love to hear a logical non ego based answer to why not to post....cause i would bet your shop WILL NOT be there to pay for your medical treatments or come to the hospital while you are undergoing therapy with large tubes stuffed down your throat while the nurse says "swallow please"...you do realize that the consequences of bad air at depth are super painful, would tear apart your loved ones and the medical treatments suck badly? You ever been on a ventilator or been with a loved one connected to such a machine?

It's sad that so many shops have these backward attitudes.
I'll keep posting quarterly and look forward to more shops stepping up to the bar that Fill Express has set. Doesn't anyone else find it strange that so many shops refuse to take our safety seriously?

Interestingly enough several reputable shops i contacted today thought it was a great idea, that customers should be aware of testing and ask for certificates and would post them soon.
