I seen the note in question. And I read the note and about spit my reg out when I read it. The thought that that was funny. If you would of read the whole note you would of known that it was a JOKE. This is what the note said ( I have left the system I left you and light source) and then it said CAUTION DO NOT STRIKE NEAR LINE and there was 2 water proof matchs tied to the note. And if you would of read the note and thought it was not to your liking you should of removed it. Just like I do when I see cave juck but I don't make a big deal out of it. I was in the system today and took out 1 note, and some cut line and a closepin,1cooky and 2 cut zip ties. Just my 2 cents.

I was told you not only found it funny, but you were the one who wrote it.

Neither marchand or myself could figure out what toothpicks were on the line for....makes a bit more sense now that I realize they're matches.

wtf? I've left cookies in Ginnie that mean something to me for navigation, either marking a passage I want to see next dive, completing a circuit, etc, just to find them removed a week later (when I go to "complete" the dive). Cookies/clothespins are used for a variety of reasons, and it really pisses me off when someone does me the favor of removing mine. I didn't know that note was a joke, and I didn't want to pull it because we didn't know if the missing diver could have been in the system.

I hereby give everyone permission to remove any junk from all caves. I am not talking about jump markers, distance markers, survey markers etc., or the note at the end of the gold line in Devil's Eye, but plastic toys, silly notes on lines, etc.
I'll go to JB this weekend and remove everything from the trash room.

Doesn't it seem like we are going a little overboard here? I agree with not putting arrows on the line as "personal best" distance markers and bringing loads of toys into the systems. The pioneers put some of these items in these systems and they are now a part of history. Shouldn't we leave those items in the system?

Do you really thing I would take a cookie off the line???? I found it in the clay and removed it. You should just let this go becaused you are the the cave diver you thing you are. When you went into the cave on the night in question. You did not see the note it was there and you DAM sure didn't see the team coming out of the cave when you where scootering in. Not far from the note doing a share air drill. You scootered right on by without stoping. I know I was there. But it is your cave right you can shoot mineless videos about spare airs but that is ok.

Cookies/clothespins are understandable for that purpose. However, if I see a cookie/clothespin in the same place for a while, I'll pull it after 2-3 weeks. If you can't get back within that time to complete your dive, then it's time to start over anyway.

Yeah, shooting a video is ok. Leaving a misleading note that you (and so far...only you) think is funny is not ok, especially in the wake of a diver that lost his life.

FWIW James did not post videos on spare air in caves.

Here is the link, Diffrent guy. (by the way there is nothing wrong with shooting video in a cave.)
