I'm with you on that. (use old scruffy voice when reading this)
Let's cut the Gold Line back to the Cornflakes where it used to be. I remember that and the time when all I got for Christmas was a rock and an apple and I was happy. A steel 72 was the cylinder to use and we were happy. We didn't have a BC and we didn't want one, they're new fangled and undependable. Yes I'm kidding.

This is starting to go bad. Cave graffiti is inexcusable, the plastic trinkets while annoying to some are enjoyed by many. If they were on every corner it would need to stop. A few markers are viewed as goals for new cave divers and navigation aids by others. I don't like seeing cell towers everywhere but that has not kept me from having a cell phone. With more people comes more stuff and more problems. Ever think talking about cave diving on a discussion board inspires others to cave dive?

I said way back if this had never hit the endless treadmill we call the internet it would have blown over or been solved by now. This is just playing feed the monkey. I want the writing crap stopped too, but I don't want to get sued or slammed by speculating who or what group.
I'm sure our boys are already in the air.

If cave diving were Star Wars, who would be Yoda?

I hate to say it but I don't think the inside of ANY cave is private property. Just the land to access said cave.

    All,

You've seen the pictures of the damage ... ask yourself two things. Do you want more damage to pristine sites? Do you think the DIC investigation should be dropped? If you answered "No" then you agree with me.

The purpose of this thread is to get assistance from you regarding the identity of "DIC." I asked for help in two areas. The first, is the Hobbit fantasy/alphabet/words (like pluga) and the second finding those who might have been seen at Cow and Ginnie whose and initials DO NOT appear on the waiver list.

And yes, I read the New Yorker article and just like the woman who poured through company records and learned the Mad Bombers identity, we'll eventually do the same.

If you have other thoughts, another agenda or some other tactic, please start your own thread, conduct your own poll. There are too many others that do not share your view.

    /Ken

    Ken,

Can you explain how the "Hobbit" fantasy words would have anything to do with this incident?

Is there someone who can say that the words found "around" DIC were from the same person/time?

Just wondering because I would hate for this investigation to waste time on a lead that may have nothing to do with DIC but is just from another vandal.

    Default DIC features

Just bought a new chevrolet vehicle and was flipping through the owners manual. It has a section with DIC features. It really stuck out after having read this thread about Cow, which used to be one of my favorite dive sites.

It may sound a little far fetched but I wonder if the perpetrator may have picked up that word from his car manual.

In the first few days of this the word "PULGA" was reported at Ginnie. Pulga had meaning in several latin lanuages. The report said they were fresh carvings, about 3" high and above one another RT(over) DIC over PULGA.

    RT
    DIC
    PLUGA

The letters were about 2-3 in tall.

In researching PULGA, I was also informed that there is a word "PLUGA" which in the Hobbit/Tolkien writings means "cave explorer." A further interview with the observer revealed that PLUGA or PULGA was possilbe.

I have made no headway on this and was referred to gamers and those more familar with the trilogy. If it is a "fantasy" meaning then perhaps the DIC meaning can be resolved.

    Good question, Thanks. /Ken

Yes, as someone who is introverted and compulsive it makes me wonder if I'll be in danger if I go diving in Florida? Is someone going to follow me and turn off my tanks in the cave? Will people be eyeing me?

Thank you for investigating, but I hope we don't start eyeing each other suspiciously. That would be uncomfortable.

Ken, I admire you for taking the lead in this. The investigation should not be dropped, we need to protect these systems. Don't back down and don't worry about offending anyone. I hope we find the POS soon.

I can't beleive the attitudes of some of the people on this site and over at decostop

Seams like there is a lot of "who cares" attitude out there or, we can do nothing so why bother trying anything at all.

Maybe these people will change their tunes when the caves start looking like the bottom of overpass bridges.

I posted on deco stop that I supported educational signs put up, my thinking is even if one person thinks twice and does not mark up or works harder to resist damage then it was money well spent.

I guess a lot of people were not taught conservatism or really just don't care.

This stuff blows my mind, totally BLOWS MY MIND.

To the people that don't care and say why bother, your no better than the POS that did the damage because neither of you give a damn about these caves.
