    Default Tired after diving

Can anyone explain to me why you feel tired after diving?
I am not talking about long gnarly dives where swimming etc is a factor, but even on a shallow 5 meter dive last weekend where there was very little swimming I was collecting fossils and ended up felling really tired.
In fact I almost always feel more tired after diving than after surfing.

You better call DAN. Sounds like you might be bent.

I'm gonna go with water resistance and gear weight making for a bit of a workout.

Do you do any sort of exercise? I feel it's something that's easily overlooked and not seen as something necessary for diving.

For me, I know I'd have a pretty difficult time diving if I didn't exercise as much as I did.

Cold? Are you forgoing good thermal protection in the dives you feel are not worth putting on all the drysuit pee valve undergarments etc etc.

I feel tired too, if the dive is on air. I do not feel tired after a 32% Nitrox dive. It doesn't seem to matter what the profiles are. Even during my biweekly visits to volunteer-dive (using air) in an aquarium - 12 ft depth! -- I am tired. There are lots of dives I've done repeatedly, on both air and on Nitrox....the former tire me out, the latter don't.

The tiredness is not related to N2 absorption, or a short/shallow dive on air would be like a longer/deeper but otherwise similar dive on Nitrox. it is not related to max PPN2 experienced, or my shallow aquarium dives would not be so tiring.

I hope it is not like the headaches I got when I was a kid, and my Dad would say "It's all in your head." Well, duh.

I do a lot of surfing, in fact pretty much every day and cross fit too when there are no waves, Yoga every day if also feel tired after those but for good reason those are actually exercise.
Just curious as this is nothing new for me I always have wondered what it is about diving that makes me tired as if I had actually worked out.
I agree on the EANX thing, I am not sure if it psychological but when I dive in Mexico it is all 32 and I feel less tired after very long exploration dives than shorter air dives here in the DR where Nitrox is not available (or super complicated to get).

I think it is paramount that you stop diving now. You should pay for volunteers from the states to come over and do your exploration and fossil collection for you!

On a more serious note, how long has this been occurring? Any changes in diet or your gas supply?
