Anyone using a GEM for Cave? Still too expensive but on the mainstream track maybe??
    Still need bailout.

What I would like to see is an SCR that plumbs in to my SM 108s. Use them as drive gas and bailout.

The reason I don't dive a rebreather while cave diving is because I don't cave dive .... Yet.

I can't wait though. I really enjoyed training in Florida and even got a glimpse of a cavern. What an amazing feeling that was!

The catch with that is the drive gas needs to be richer than the bailout.

Mostly... I don't want to spontaneously die of a "medical" incident.

I hit the appropriate button for that... didn't notice I could vote for more until afterwards.

Other issues... cost, I don't dive the kind of dives that I think necessitate a RB, the maintenance factor is far too high...

i'm just not as meticulous as they need a pilot to be. and larry already gets to maintain all the scooters (the deal for me taking dpv class), so also doing 2 breathers would be too much on him while i chatted with everyone as the social butterfly i am. so it's all out of respect for my buddy, really.

Yeah, I might be convinced with a decent scr also.

Something between a dolphin and an rb80. Shirley one of these smart folks can make something. I would, but I just don't have the time or want to suffer the consequences of my own design flaw.

Wonder how much of the cost of a unit is liability? From a cost accounting standpoint, there is material,R&D,labor, warranty, and liability that all factor into the wholesale price.
I know the kit idea of a rebreather was experimented with because warranty and liability would fall chiefly on you.

Oh I understand the whole Cost vs ROI, it is sad that we can't separate liability issues based on the buyer conscience decision to join the team. I'm only know of two industries that have been successful in tort reform, Ski Resorts and Equestrian, Look at the BS that happened when one of our most revered explorers died.. If we got rid of most liability questions we would have more places to dive, cheaper products to use. Sad state of things.

Very Simple. Out of all 155 episodes, I only remember Mile Nelson using a rebreather once. If they scare Mike Nelson, then they must really be bad, and all of you are crazy to use one.
