YES!
NO!
You deserve to die for suggesting this!
We are in fact friends, good friends. The story around our meeting is fitting though:
We were at Ginnie diving all day and 6 of us decided to go to the Great Outdoors, Tracy was with us. Peter was on my right and was talking about a house issue, the he said "And some A**hole from New York stole my house!!!!! I smiled looked at him and extended my hand and said "Hey buddy I'm the A**hole from New York"
Friends ever since.

The quote is often attributed to Abe, but there is no evidence he ever actually said it or wrote. First time it shows up in English publication is in a children's book circa early 1900 (or late 1800's?) and the author of that book is the one credited with originating it. Mark Twain is often credited too, but again, no written evidence he said it or wrote it. The bible has a version of it. And many cultures with many different languages have a similar saying.

Jason, you might know this but Curt has been diligently planning such an event. The 2013 Cave Summit features all of the above -- and a ton more -- http://www.admfoundation.org/cavesummit/cavesummit.html
It is interesting going back. My 2012 platform statement for the NSS BOG actually emphasized the importance of the CDS to the NSS.
