but if there are enough bottles cached, then i wont have to drag any bottles down from Va when I come down.
Those are what they are for, right?

I was under the impression that proper gas planning negated the need for a safety bottle cache.

Nay on cave diver welfare gas.

    3) If we could take a couple bags of cement in as well to take care of the silting issues in the caves that would also be helpful so I can always see the line.
Another option would to be like Vortex Springs . Extra heavy rope with lights to pull on and large structures to come up inside and breathe.

Seriously, where does this crap come from?'

I can't believe all you morons are overlooking the obvious - haven't you been to Weeki Wachee and seen the mermaid show? They need to drill holes into the caves every fifty feet and drop air-delivery hoses down into the cave passage. If you run out of air, you go to one, grab a big breath and swim to the next one. Any cave diver worth his/her salt can hold their breath and swim fifty feet!

    Duh.

I agree with Gary and Techdvr: For some dives, a safety bottle is a good idea, but it must be one you placed yourself that day or yesterday. If you are relying on the safety bottle, it is then just a stage bottle.

I am all for this, then they can just pump enough air in and we can just walk instead of swim.

learn proper gas management. If you need some help on how to do a few gas calculations PM me and I will help you.

This program is actually referred to as "Obamacave". It will be phased in over a period of ten years, and will benefit middle class cave divers who are not able to keep up with the widening gap between the wealthiest cave divers, those with their own safety bottles, and the middle class who cannot afford all of the safeties on their own.

It will create numerous jobs for low income cave divers who have to go and maintain the safety bottles as well as boosting the local economies of cave country by providing stimulus in the form of increased employment, housing, food, and gas fills.

Initially, the Department of the Interior will be overseeing this project. It will require the hiring of about 622 new mid to upper level managers to create the maintenance schedule, recruit the local work force, set up purchasing of tanks and regulators (from China of course) and decide which caves should receive the grants for the safety bottles. Each State will have to prepare their own grant applications for each cave.

Now the conservatives see this as a big government takeover of the caves, but it is really just an economic plan to stimulate local cave economy, provide jobs, and make cave diving safer for the countless dumbasses that will not plan their own stinking gas supply.

The cost to the taxpayer will not exceed $12,000,000 per year, and will be offset by reductions in food stamps, agriculture subsides, Congressional intern STD testing, and medicare spending.
