Looks like Strassburg is a possibility then. This is what I found:

Anyone knows more??
This is the one that you have to jump through hoops to get to. The owners also own a paintball field close by ( http://www.skylinepaintball.com/ ) but it is also listed for sale by a firm in DC.
If you do get to dive it, you have to have a large group and someone has to stay on the shore to monitor the divers.
The quarry/beach itself has been closed ever since a girl drowned there a few years ago. last year i kept getting the run around from the people who own it.
I have an area photo (google earth) i can email you if you like.
I havnt dove it, but have researched a lot about it and know people who have.
When they were digging the quarry, they hit a cave and kept going. the dry entrance to the cave is run as a commeral show cave, so you cant enter it through the quary and walk around in the dry sections.
It would be worth a call to the paintball place and see if they would be willing to let us go there, if there is interest.

I would be willing to make the call if we get critical mass. Maybe give it a few days and see what folks think?
I'm about 5,186 miles away. does that qualify as close?
anyhow, I'll be around and would be glad to pass through DC on one of my journeys. I'd be happy to help support/advertise/organize it. I don't know the area super well so the planning I would not be of as much help, though I'd try.

That's a great idea Scott! We can all meet halfway somewhere.
When are you back Steve?
