The H2OV, I assume this means the low light performance isn't that good "or capturing the magnificence of a school of fish, especially in water with good visibility loaded with ambient light."

Gopro does a pretty good job. The contor HD does good in sunlight but in a cave it needs twice as much light as our other cameras.

blessed are the cracked for they let in the light!

We ran into and chatted w/ a guy from Indy, Terri said she saw a camera mounted to his light - likely Meister481... that pair was a hoot....

i think the guy you were refering to was me, (Big loud Grey Dodge truck) I was at peacock testing it out and yes it was GO PRO, they have 2 types one is HD and is good to 180Ft and the "Lo Def" is good to 100Ft and has a Wide angle lens, Thats what i was using and i paid 100Bucks from Amazon, It worked Well all up and down the main line in P1, BUT you need FLOOD type of lights a BEAM light like a MR11 LED head does not give you enough for video...

I have a gopro hero and the original housing and a sartek housing that is a fix for the underwater out of focus problem with the factory housing...see rebreatherworld for a good discussion and sample videos of the focus issue. I also have a contour and am testing them at ginnie this week. Jack Gregory had one in the water yesterday at ginnie and filmed a dive so he may be able to comment about the focus issue after he inspects that video. A nice compact 1080p hd cam....they do time lapse as well. The issue is definitely light in the cave. Bill

Is Andrew still diving? I heard through the grapevine that he flooded a rebreather loop way back in the hinterlands at ginne and had a close call, if so i would certainly like to hear about the planning issues and how they might change for that sort of a dive. It is good to learn from both accidents and incidents. Bill

    See this post.

A few posts later he indicated that he was giving NACD the first right to publish the account of his experience.

I got a Dive Rite 24w HID recently, and then got a video reflector for it. I've been wanting to try my little Canon point-and-shoot (in the Canon housing) in video mode in a cave, but the tide tables keep bringing me back to salt water. (There's a finite number of good weekends during the year, so we take them when we get them. I've made a total of four cave dives since the workshop weekend.)

the gopro will not focus underwater, Sartek came up with a new housing and lens that solves the problem. As for quality many people here use the gopro for surfing and the quality is really good but in low light I doubt it though.

Go Pro's 'Hero' camera is actually pretty nice, but the current dome port housing is VERY soft. Go Pro knows this and has a prototype flat port housing that is much sharper. I would expect it out soon, or if you bug GoPro enough you may be able to get one now. We have been using the H2OV, and it has been pretty nice for point of view shots although we have yet to use it in a cave or low light situation.
