    Default Liquivision X1 / VR3

    Comments, please?

Anyone among us have experience with the Liquivision X1? Good things to say, bad things to say?

Also, to all the VR3 users among us - has anyone had reliability issues, ie, frequent repairs, etc. Especially with the color screen unit.....

I'm obviously on the market for a good multi-gas - any other comments on other makes and models would be most appreciated....

Buy a VR3 they have been around for 10 years and we know what problems exist with them. The X1 well who knows? Here today gone tomorrow.

This has been covered quite well over on TDS. There are a few long threads on the X1 and VR3.

I have dived with 2 people multiple dives over multiple days with the Liquivision over the past couple of weeks. I liked the unit, user friendly..much easier to use than the VR3. It gets the diver out of the water much faster than my NiTek He & Duo. That may not neccesarily be a good thing, however.

I have a review of my Liquivision X1 on RebreatherWorld (and The Deco Stop). So far, I love the thing. Other than some initial power on timing issues, Ross (author of VPlanner Live) has coded that to a resolved state. I've got about 50 dives on my X1. No other issues to speak of. The one thing that the X1 users have as a huge plus is Ross constantly updating the software for the better; new features added often. He's very responsive. In my eyes, there is nothing better for cave diving but that's my opinion.

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory or defeat.

    Jim,

That just has to do with the conservatism level. It just so happens that Ross put it at a default of +3. If you bump it to +4, it matches closely with a VR3 running Buhlmann on 0 conservatism. That's where I leave mine just so the team exits at the same time. I am in no rush to get out of the water. Afterall, that's the whole reason why I go diving.

    I have 2 VR3s and 1 X1. Long story short, I will be selling the VR3s.

    A few points:
    • The X1 has a true VPM algorithm; the VR3 does not
    • V-Planner has been around for a long time -- the algorithms are tested more than any other deco software
    • The X1 is tiny; the VR3 can be used as a weapon (and has been)
    • Tobin makes a KICK-ASS mount for it
    • You can actually download dives from the X1
    • The X1 has an electronic compass
    • Ross (V-Planner Live) will actually provide support

Let me know if you are interested in buy a VR3

Sold my VR3 for the X1

    I do not regret it

Both are GREAT computers, however I feel the X1 is the better unit.

Sold 2 VR3's for 2 X1's. Love the X1, especially for deep dives. V-Planner allows you to plan perfectly, X1 allows you to handle in water changes of plans perfectly. What a pair!
