    Default Cow spring

Changes have been made and the cds has done an absolutely horrible job informing members. Aka basically not informing us at all.

I did get an anonymous email with new cds webpage login info but I assumed that was because the database was being updated. Would have been at least nice to add ?use this login to fill out the cow waiver? or something other than a generic email with just new login info.

It would of been better if the CDs had sent info to every member. It is on FB but not everyone is on FB. I have to remember the committees and board members are all volunteers and do the best they can.
Elections will be coming up soon. Here is your chance to help out especially if you are not happy with the way things are now.
Send an email to KELLY JESSOP if you would like to be nominated.

Thats the same excuse I got from them too over and over again. Just because you volunteer doesnt excuse doing a poor job and providing subpar service to the members.

There was a time when I planned to volunteer for the cds but several people who had served gave clear cut reasons why it was a lost cause. Within the year it was very clear that they were right. The cds is too broken of a ship for me. I have no intent of getting on board. New blood may be good, but honestly I dont see things changing. I am only a cds member because I was given a free lifetime membership and I like to dive cow now and again. If it werent for cow I would refuse to be a member. When they tell me I have to pay my dues finally because someone fixed their issues, I honestly think I?ll decline to renew.

Thank you to those who made the online waiver possible. Especially since we no longer have to set foot in, or interact with, Dive Outpost. It seems some people complain about everything.

I agree with the dive outpost sentiment. As for the complaining: try fighting with the cds for 3 years just to be able to pay for your membership, but get nothing but excuses as to why lthey cant accept your payment. During all of it get promised 30 different times by three separate people how they?re going to take responsibility and resolve the issue just for them to disappear and never email you back.
The cds has been poorly run for a long time. I know quite a few people who have been given free lifetime meberships because the cds cant accept their payment due to ?database issues? even when you offer to mail in a check. So yeah, some of us have major complaints. I?m just the only one with enough balls to say it out loud. Everytime its discussed I get texts and messages from other people who?ve had the same experience as me.
I will absolutely volunteer for the cds and would even be on the board if they become a conservation only organization and wean down what they do. Because its obvious the cds really cant handle its current obligations.
But one question thats always in the back or my mind is how many free memberships have they been giving out to appease people that are tired of the bs, and what dollar figure does that add up to? I suspect its a decent number.

I agree somewhat, I mean conservation is an NSS tenant and that should filter down the the CDS... and as a NSS member I have access to most (not saying all because I'm not 100% sure) NSS owned properties. Yet COW is now closed to all non-full cave certifications??? Why NOW?? (not that I really care about diving COW but frustrates me that this changed without a good explanation) The bigger question is are you suggesting doing away with the training portion of the CDS? because Education is also a tenant of the NSS.

Yes. Get rid of training and focus on conservation.
