Midwest Social
July 17th, 2004 at Roubidoux Spring Park in Waynesville, MO
The 3rd annual Mid West CDF Social went off with no problems or
complaints that I know of. Friday the 16th WJH and I went in for a preliminary
dive to check conditions and install a small circuit. We had maybe 25+ foot of
vis.
Saturday WJH and I got there about 7 or so and others started to arrive. What a
day of great diving we had. I will let others post the dive reports they had if
they would like. I got to make 2 dives with a new buddy from the St. James area
that is only Intro certified but I had fun with him just taking it easy and
showing him the cave.
I provided a 5 gallon cooler of a mix of Gatorade and Kool Aid, well lets say
that everyone enjoyed it with the HOT HOT day we had. It was just kind of strong
there in the beginning before the ice had a chance to melt. Everyone that showed
up had a great time and everyone WON a prize.

We did miss a few divers this year but it was not anyone's own fault. Allen,
sorry to hear that you had to be in TX and did not get the dives you thought you
would get. Zdiver, we did think to send you some of the moss but thought that it
would be destroying the spring and you know that we could never do that. Mike
Mcullife, well he has been busy getting all settled in down there in FL to dive
all those easy caves down there.
To sum it all up, it was, without a doubt, a great day. Kind of warm but the
rains stayed away and the cave was in great shape with all the divers that went
in to dive. I still have to wonder about one diver, it seems that every time he
just touches a reel it goes and explodes (as he puts it). I mean it can be on
his D-Ring and when he reaches over to get it; BOOM... it is al jammed up before
he can put both hands on it. I know that one day he will redeem himself.
Next year, we need to get more divers to show up and enjoy the fun.
See yawl at the spring or in the cave.
