question about manatee

I'll be there sunday and I was wondering on what the policy is about exiting at the headspring?
is it closed? even if you're just popping out there to escape the duckweed?

Give a call to the park rangers office to find out: (352) 493-6072. The few times I have found the headspring closed to cave divers is when manatees are in the pool (not just in the spring run). The extreme flooding in '04 was one event where diving was prohibited altogether until conditions were amenable to diving.

I exit the headspring every dive. Just be careful about getting ejected by the flow.

Manatees were in the basin Sunday morning, they didn't let us in the spring. They said if the manatees moved down the run, it'd be opened up.
