All I have to say is that back mount open circuit sucks! There is no arguing needed. It just sucks. It sucks in every way possible. I dove it for years and regret every moment. Once you give sidemount a real try and get your act together you will never go back. Doubles... ha ha so 70's. I am sure you would argue against a rebreather as over complicated too... Join us in the new century and ditch the rotary dial phone of diving.

Really complicated if you dive sidemount and rebreather at the same time.

Is that a sidemount rebreather, which I covet? Or is that a backmount rebreather with sidemount bailout? Or is that a removable backmount rebreather with sidemount for the push? I am so confused. I am so overwhelmed.

What is so hard to dive SM RB? If you are a diver and can dive both SM and ae a RB diver, why can't it be a snap to dive both at thesame time? I know of a few RB's that wourl out just great for SM diving. Even know of one that the scrubber is the only thing on your back and the rest is SM, kind of a hybrid, but then it can also be kind of changed over, just have to change the hoses some.

I use what ever is most proctical for the job at hand. They all have a place, training and ones true ability makes the differance.

The hardest part about diving a sidemount rebreather is coming up with the money to convert my Meg to side mount. I dove with Ted McCoy and his sidemount Meg in February for three days and it was AWESOME. I am sure I was breaking one of the commandments.... I think it was this one, "You shall not covet your neighbour’s... donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour."

Dark side?!? Gosh, it almost seems like I'm moving toward a light!!

I hope to have some fun tomorrow. I didn't have much of a chance to see what it was like to turn sideways or go head down without turtling. As I understand it I can do that as easily as I used to be able to in a Transpac w/Venture wing and single tank.

    You mean like this?

I now have more weight on the RB, so it is even with my tanks.
