    Default TDI training limitations...

Buddy trained at intro level.... received NSSCDS Basic and TDI Intro cards...

TDI card specifies following limitations: Max depth 130' w/ 30' vis, no deco, no restrictions, reserve 2/3 air supply to exit, continuous guideline to exit, at least 3 lights/diver...

    Is single tanks assumed....?
Card makes no reference to advanced topics; navigation jumps, gaps, curcuits, traverses

TDI's site is lacking on detail....

    Whats the scoop...?
    -------------------------------

Yes - they are diving 6ths...

1/3rds in based on singles, supposed to follow 1/6s on doubles. You will not be allowed in Ginnie if you tell them you are diving doubles. It restricts you to mainline, no jumps, gaps, etc.

Was he trained in doubles or singles? If he was trained in doubles, he needs to get a letter from his instructor stating this and present it to the folks at Ginnie. They should allow him to dive Devil's in doubles with the letter. And as Ant said, in doubles, penetration is limited to 1/6.

My IANTD intro cave card states specifically "introductory cave with doubles."Will I have a problem at Ginnie if I want to dive doubles? I also have TDI advanced nitrox and deco procedures cert cards and never dive anything but doubles anymore.

I'm curious what your buddy says, the one that the card belongs to. If he's not crystal clear with the answers to all of the above questions then he needs to....

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

It's all my curiosity at the ambiguity in the cards text... as the card was issued under reciprocity... Nothing more...

The TDI Into includes both Single and doubles so no waiver is needed, you should not have a problem with doubles at Ginnie.
It is 1/3 in single and 1/6 in doubles
It is a Single primary guideline
Yes it does say about advanced topics! - Introductory Cave!
There is nowhere in any sport or profession you would learn advanced topics in an into class.

I am not an Instructor for NSS-CDS but I believe that the change from Into to Basic was to identify the new standard for Doubles. So I don’t believe you need a waiver there either.

As far as I know IANTD is the only one now that you would need a waiver for doubles in Intro.

No waiver needed for IANTD. They print "In Doubles" on the card, but the instructor needs to let Patti know this on the application. I don't know if TDI does this or not, but I do have a couple of friends that were almost not allowed to dive Devil's because they didn't have anything that said single or doubles on their cards or in the form of a waiver.
