Default School Sink / Wayne?s World Status

    All,
School Sink / Wayne's World Status:
After many years of legal issues, the property has been cleaned up, a sturdy chain-link fence has been installed, official no trespassing signs are now installed, the dive management plan has been completed, the dive waivers are about done, keys to the gate have been made??. another collapse has happened.

There was a major collapse in School Sink/Wayne?s World in the past few days. It happened just on the other side of the Tourist Trap. This was about 50 feet from where they pumped concrete in a few years ago. This collapse on the other side of the previous collapse now makes diving there very limited (around 300feet of line is accessible from the entrance)

As of 5 February 2019 there is NO diving allowed at all to be done from this entrance to the system.

The divers who found the collapse said the rocks are very soft limestone and did not see a way around the cave in.
I?ll update the CDF when I know more.

    Safe diving,
    Eric

Thanks. I've yet to dive Wayne's World, but since it's close to home we were talking about diving it this year. The system map on caveatlas is illegible, so I'm trying to better understand. Is the cave only diveable for 300ft from School sink/WW main entrance? I can't see where Tourist Trap is on the map in relation to the main entrance vs secondary sink entrances. I assume tourist trap is a section of cave, not a sink/entrance?

Thanks for the update Eric. You and I have a ton of memories in that place. Terrible to hear about the collapse.

Most exciting - Finding a gun safe.
Most funny- having someone push me out of the way at 45feet to exit while they were on O2 cause they flooded their RB on the surface.
Most stupid - that picture of me with the shopping cart there.

And the list goes on and on....

Colt blowing us out at A&E
Coming out of Main Street passed the rock Warren knocked down after the tide shifted causing a strong siphon (love my run on)
Using my winch to get the cart out after both of us could not lift it with drysuits and wings

Most awesome - that picture of you with the shopping cart

When you enter the system, if you take the left at the main T and swim about 75 feet or so and you'll head down a sharp incline. When you reach the bottom (around 80 feet) it's a quick duck under and it's immediately back up another incline. That's slight restriction is called the Tourist Trap.

Sorry it is a bit morbid but it shows it much better. I am not sure where the high-res one is or I would have it on CaveAtlas.

Here's a copy of the map I have.

There was some discussion about digging out the shortcut (it collapsed awhile back), maybe that's an option?
