You have any facts to back this up?

Fully kitted, my RB set up has increased drag vs OC.

As for which group dies more per incident, the results vary by the parameters that are used.

Frankly, I do not see published data to say conclusively in favor of one view or the other.

OP posited the question: can CCRs be safe? My worthless personal opinion is: to a relative high degree.

But hey, who knows! Personally my biggest concerns are with the consumables portion of an RB and operator errors.

Might be helpful. The word drag does not appear in the 332 pages and the CCR fatalities section does not discuss it or even medical issues as a factor.

Maybe you used the wrong tense with "get"? Seems you cannot attend in reverse or perhaps you were not intending to be helpful....in which case you succeeded.

Not sure as the question you were answering seemed on point with the thread's theme and the support to your quasifact-regurgitation could be helpful. Therefore, I wondered if it was worthless, intentionally.

If I'm wrong, correct me. You certainly wont be the first. If not, I (and others) would benefit from the source of that statement as I'm sure whatever you attended didnt complete the study. They just spouted it.

    Like you.

then try and go back to what i wrote and read it. I said "I would argue", so that is my view. i will expand on that in a minute.

The first statement I made regarding the statistics are born out in the data presented at RF3. It's there

Now to my argument, if a CCR diver has adequate bailout, generally they "should" be more drag than their OC counterpart, however based upon my observations, more frequently I see CCR tech divers with a single 40 slung when 3500 ft back in a cave or at 250+ on the wall etc. because of whatever their excuse is. Those divers have a significant drag advantage over the OC tech diver doing similar profiles because OC divers generally carry enough gas for the dive and emergencies. Many CCR divers don't do the second part of that. CCR divers also die technical diving more times per 1000 dives than OC tech.

I think my mistake was in throwing my view in regarding drag after my more definitive statement.
Hope it makes more sense in my other reply now

I smoked in college and some afterwords. My big reason for quitting was because I was very very interested in technical diving and knew that it would be a problem to continue. Despite a gazillion other reason to quite I was successful because of how much I love to dive.
Now I would never consider going back because it's stupid for your health in general but the diving was the biggest help and reason for me.
Also, because I quite my wife hasn't gone back either so diving helped my wife too whether she likes to admit it or not...
