You got it Alasdair...country roads...and a lot of them are only 45-55mph. It's state mandate in TX that any load over 16'Wide will not be routed on the Interstate

It's a pretty safe bet that I've drove on more of TX's country roads than the majority of Texans...I've worn out 3 TX road atlases & can give pretty reliable shortcut directions in most of west TX...and I'm Canadian!

...still playin with Tonka Toys in the sandbox...and blowin bubbles in the water...

Snowplow? What in God's name can you grow in snow? If you can't grow anything, what's the point in plowing it?

ROFL! You're right, not much grows in it, no matter how you cultivate it. It does attract skiers and snowmobilers from out of state who bring us money, though.

We plow it out of the road so we can get to the store to buy beer, and to drive to Florida!

A few years ago we got 42 inches of snow in 24 hours on February 14th. We were at the northern edge of a big storm that hit the mid-Atlantic and New England states hard. The next day we left to drive to Luraville. The roads were plowed out all the way to the Pennsylvania/Maryland line. Across Maryland and West Virginia on I-81, they had not plowed, and had just let the traffic pack it down into a six inch layer of rutted ice. We put the truck in 4 wheel drive, and drove across MD and WV at 20 mph. Fortunately it's not far, only 40 miles or so. When we hit the Virginia line, the road was plowed bare again. There was snow on the roadside almost to Statesville, NC. We saw a deer on the side of the road in NC standing in six inches of snow looking utterly disgusted.

Leaving for Luraville a week from Saturday - we don't usually have to deal with snow on the October trip.

Can't wait to see this thread go full circle and get back on course.

Anyhoo, years back the power line tree trimmer found Dad's missing mail box. In a red oak about 25 feet UP the tree. They took it to the house and presented it to him, with mail still in it. That was a heck of a lick with a Honda, as the car parts in the yard noted.

Blue Springs can't be that bad, I've seen no mention of broken beer bottles, condoms, shell casings or one pot meth labs.
And no mention of those nasty cave diver types leaving their caths on the picnic table. LOL

If cave diving were Star Wars, who would be Yoda?
