I swim some caves, i scooter others. I've swam in Manatee, and I've scootered it. Manatee is a scooter cave. Drop in at Friedman, head upstream via scooter to about p.4500 or so, turn and drift back down is about as good as it gets, and there is still lots of cave from there. To my mind, Manatee is closed as long as scooters are unwelcome.

I enjoy Manatee with no scooter, in at Friedmans, with a stage or two and one can enjoy plenty of cave. If keeping DPVs out of Manatee makes it a cave less visited , AMEN!

Nice. Keep that attitude in mind when limitations are arbitrarily placed on one of YOUR activities.

There are limitations placed on us all one way or another in this sport we participate in. Whether its no solo diving, off limits due to private owners, fee amounts($), travel distance, skill level, cert level , physical ability, mental ability , depth of cave, flow strength, sidemount / no mount only etc... I might not agree with them or like it but I accept it and dive what works for me. Theres plenty of caves to scooter at, having one where no scooters are CURRENTLY not allowed isn't the end of the world brother. I have experienced cavediving sites where the crowd factor (swim+dpv) amounts to a negative experience to divers and the cave. Manatee Springs IS OPEN TO CAVE DIVERS, if you want to believe its closed because you can't scooter, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ATTITUDE! Dive, dive, dive......and dont forget to breathe and enjoy life.

Wow. Where do I begin? First, I don't want to to squabble with you, I don't even know you. My first posting in this thread was really just a lament for a new limitation being arbitrarily placed where one previously didn't exist, in an activity already heavily burdened with limitations. Your response to that seemed a little snide, almost as if you were rejoicing in the placement of this new limitation. I found it sad that anyone would take that tack, that's all. You seem to have taken it personally, for that I apologize. I wish you many happy and safe dives, in as many places as you would like to dive. And I sincerely hope that you encounter no obstacles to that goal, especially where no obstacle previously existed.

I dive the panhandle mostly, but have dabbled elsewhere. Probably 80+ different systems now. Tallahassee is my easy access goto stuff.

Concerning the no-scooters rule - it doesn't bother me at Peacock because it's low-flow and reasonably small passage, but at Manatee? No reason for it.

    I am not scootering...yet.

The majority of my dives are at:
Ginnie - Generally first cave I encounter when I head north. I have an annual pass so I can dive anytime and avoid crowds.
    PSSP
    Cow
    Little River
    Jug
    Madison
    Annual trip to Mexico

I do try and brach out a bit and have also enjoyed, although less frequently
    Jackson Blue
    HITW
    Twin
    Ruth
    Telford
    Manatee
    Hart

Sludge do you know what the "reason" is for not allowing scooters according to park service?

I would love to hear it. (I'm guessing it is "Scooters cause damage.")
