The system has 30ft of viz, very silty, tannic, and mild current. Water not very turbid, but expect reduced viz on the way out. Be safe and have fun.

Does anyone know what's up with Bonnet these days? I haven't heard of anyone diving there in like 5 years.
Any word on Little River?

Over Christmas break, my wife and I chatted about Bonnet with Rick, the head ranger at Peacock. If I recall what he said correctly, Rick said that the head honchos from Tallahassee would have to make the call to reopen Bonnet; that this had been discussed; but that nothing had yet happened.
By the way, Rick-- again, if I remember correctly-- told us that Florida is requiring him to retire come March 2014. Rick has been a class act for as long as I can recall. While I think it would be really nice for someone to recognize Rick on his way out, I hesitate to say this, since I live in and have a full-time job in Tennessee, and believe that one shouldn't have good ideas unless one takes responsibility for them (to paraphrase a personal hero, Alan Perlis).
Still, it would be nice for the Peacock CSO or the NFSA to do something in honor of Rick's years of service at Peacock.

I agree,Rick has been a class act,and a true asset to the park. Matter of fact there are quite a few staff members that you don't see that do some awesome things for Peacock. The DEP is very restrictive on what we can do for an individual, but we have done a few things as we are able.

Sorry to say but I have not heard too much about Bonnit. Care to add more info?
