Both are necessary to create the caves we love - the limestone, and the carbonic acid to dissolve it - like yin and yang, the union of two opposites creates the whole.

    Far too ethereal for me!

But seriously, that gentle, fragile balance is why the karsts and their recharge zones need to be protected. They seem to be the first things that exhibit signs of stress when the environment is stressed. As a targeted organization, the ASA will give the non-divers and divers who are concerned with the Springs to participate.

Bingo....many are concerned with protection of of caves, and there have been some aquatic caves purchased with this intent, but the recharge area is so important too,but purchase of this property is prohibitive. Perfect example is Cathedral. The CDS has done a great job with this property, but unless you can change your upstream neighbor, you have the potential for problems.

Anyone taken a look at Cathedral since the storm?

I may do that this coming weekend. Cathedral is a good example of the recharge area issue. There is lots of agriculture upstream from there, and the viz has steadily gotten worse over the last 30 or so years.

Could someone connect the dots on that for me? Agriculture (assume run-off) affects the viz how?

For anyone who would put any merit into this... consider that the 2 guys he was reffering to are from TX, and have no history with the Florida GOB agencies.

So yeah, completely wrong and nothing fishy about it except for the fact that there seems to be an agenda against this newly created group.

Some people "having an agenda against this newly created group" is sometimes the best testament to the organization!
