    Default Double Lines at Ginnie

Went there for the first time in a while today. After traveling 150 feet or so up the "Double Lines " Line, it was tied off to the ceiling and ended at that point.

I looked past a bit for a gap to a continuing line but did not see one and I was not of a mind set to continue onward at that point.

Curious, has this been done to reduce travel in that area as it seemed to be getting kind of stressed? Was there a broken line that has yet to be repaired?

Heading up there next week, and might take a longer look, would appreciate some input

Back in the 90-91 time frame, I helped Steve Berman do some survey work for his map on the Double Lines area and as recent as a few months ago, this line has been continuous all the way around the loop. Are you absolutely sure you were actually in the Double Lines? Did you jump off the Hill Line at 1050 feet or 1250 feet of penetration? Was you plan to swim the loop clockwise or counterclockwise? Can you provide some landmarks info near this tie-off location? Yes, lines do break now and then and it is entirely possible that this is the case and that somebody tied the loose end to the ceiling. You've got me curious now!

Headed there next weekend and'll check it out if no one does before then. BTW, you jumped left off the Hill 400 line about 1000' then (almost) immediately right onto the Double Lines or ?

    Hi Brent,

My wife and I just moved into another house and my maps have not surfaced yet, I appologize I can't be more specific coming off the top of my head.

We jumped at 1050 intending to head in a clockwise direction, running a single line from the H400 line up the right side of the passage and directly to the entrance to Double Lines. (instead of making two jumps) This was the first line on the right. Had to swim in a bit and down and make a tie in on the right side

We entered following the knotted line. At first the passage is a farily comfortable swim with turns and minor changes in elevation. At this point the line is generally running on the side of the passage. Then ceiling comes noticably closer to the cave floor requiring quite a bit more focus if diving back mount and the line moves up to the ceiling. It was soon after this the line was tied off on the ceiling. At a guess I am thinking this around 150 feet up the line.

    Hope this helps.

I am planning to head up next weekend, and might look to approach from the other direction to see how that goes...

Hmmm that is one of my favorite dives to do and I did it right before the flooding and the line was like that. I heard that area got pretty nasty during the flood. Maybe the line is damaged. We definitely need to check that out!

Just run a new line and tell people you discovered a new passage called Triple Lines.

Do you mean the line was intact or not?

Seems much darker in there than my last time through and looks "refreshed". Much more stuff that goes POOF! Looking forward to going back on Saturday and going in from the other end.

I swam the circuit with Whodunit yesterday, clockwise, and everything looked intact.
