Anyone please feel free to correct my remembrance of what happened. But it was back in the '90s that Wayne Marshall was secy-treasurer of the CDS. He embezzled about $25K from the CDS, was convicted, and went to jail. I don't want to get any facts wrong or smear the guy. But I believe that's the way it went down. The CDS has instituted some stipulations to avoid that happening again. They're kind of a pain (from my outsider view), but I guess you've got to prevent such a thing from happening again.

I don't think there was ever any jail time,just make restitution. You are right the CDS did institute some financial controls to prevent it from happening again,and those controls are still in place.

I'm so far away from cave country that I don't keep up on all the juicy gossip. So, if there was no jail time, then I'm really happy that reality comes out. Again my intention is not to smear anyone. But just the taking of so much money from a non-profit is a crazy to me.

(Although this morning I scanned my monthly check before depositing it, from a lady sitting in jail who used my credit cards after her buddy broke into my car and stole my credit cards, drivers license, and GPS. Now if the NPS park police could only catch that SOB who stole my DSLR out of my trunk a couple weeks ago)

It was written up in old UWS,but if I recall correctly there was probation/community service,but no jail time. I do recall there was missed payment to the CDS which resulted in a legal action-but this is from a flawed memory from too many air dives at XXXXXX XXXX cave.

Sorry about the stolen credit cards. I am wondering myself. I sent $1000 to an heiress in Nigeria that said they neded help from someone in this country to get access to some money in a bank in England,and they would share it with me. It has been awhile since I have heard from them,so it has me wondering

Kelly, you are right, he missed payments, the CDS had to go after him again. HUGE pain in the ass. Forrest brought up the only name of the ones mentioned that I didn't know personally at one time or another.

It would be cooler if folks who she stole from were less afraid of libel and actually shared the information earlier so the cave community could deal with these idiots sooner...
