A few PPM makes sense of course. I wonder how oxygenated water has to be to support fish etc? I'd never thought about it, but how does ground source water get oxygenated to begin with? O2 being as reactive as it is, I would think would have chemically combined with something. Isn't the water coming from a spring "old" by that hasn't it been a long time since it was surface water?

    this is hilarious!!
I voted to capture and release, if possible...but not holding my breath (pun intended).....

As a side note, I am capturing my koi and placing them in a 1000 gal kiddie pool due to my 1/4 acre, 8ft deep (with water) pond drying out....interesting times!

    Dive safe,

May not matter. The carp wasn't in his usual spot today.

    Let the crawfish banquet begin!!!

BTW, this isn't the first time a carp has died in JB. It always seems to be a few months after JB reverses(like it did a couple months ago). I don't think it has anything to do with lights or divers.

I really think it is more of a function of flow. JB's flow is extremely low, because typically the flow is normally so strong that you'd be lucky if you made it to the first T. I've noticed with my data collection that the catfish population has shifted at Jug Hole relative to the decline in flow-basically it required too much effort to be in those high flow areas in the past. Diver's lights do make a difference, analgous to open water divers who have lights in springs,if they can see they will go in. There are a couple cave systems that I have observed fish that exist in the open water area follow divers lights and strike at troglobitic species; has become a conditioned behavior.

Yeah, he wasn't in the main passage when I went through. You may have spooked him enough for him to relocate.

I suggest gutting him, wrapping him in some tin foil with butter, lemon and garlic, placing him on a grill for about 4 minutes per side, and eating him.

Carp aren't good eating, people do, but I won't. I've always thought of them as a trash fish myself.
