Possible diving restriction at Morrison?

That's kind of the point - the instructors at this shop not "getting along" with cave divers at Morrison Spring.

how about just calling the shop when this happens..... speak to te manager and remark on the rude and unprofessional behavior of his employees. Not a whine cause you dont have a spot but a complaint of a specific nature. "Space is at a premium, asked if I could use a section to gear up, told to sit on the ground and do it....."

calls for this pulling the manager from other things, even if it is his morning coffee and donut, will result in something happening.....

I believe that benches would only give additional heat to the on site problem as they would take them over also and then it would be a these are "cave benches and not open water benches issue" putting cave divers in a frustrated role

Wouldn't do much good. If this is the same group I've seen, I believe the woman that saves the tables and "corrects" other instructors is related to the manager.

I work at AriChem LLC. Have for nearly 30 years. Have helped my friends at Sea Divers out over the years, on may projects. Not much time in my life the past year or so to volunteer at the shop. I have unfinished projects there and hope to get a day off soon to work on them. Love the folks there like family. Don't always agree with my blood family on all issues. Don't always agree my friends at the shop on all issues. Don't always agree with my co-workers on all issues. I've heard this all before on one forum or the other. I have no idea who was at Morrison Springs on the day in question. I have friends and cavedivng buddies who are also friends with the folks at Sea Divers. Maybe some of them have more info. on the event. I hate to see a thread run this long on such trivial bulls__t. Did someone die? Have we run out of starving, crippled children to feed?

It sounds like you are defending the practices of "your" shop. did someone die? or starving? so no thread is justifiied unless it's about dying? or starving? come on, talk to your buddies about their behavior. don't try to pass it off as trivial or as bs; it's neither.

Yeah, well, as far as your concerned doesn't apply to everyone else. Morrison has one of the best caverns, period, as far as I'm concerned.

It's a dive site and it doesn't matter whether there's a cave or not. Non-divers don't know there's not a cave there. They don't know what kind of cavern is there. All they know is that divers are being rude and they don't differentiate between OW divers and cave divers. We're all just divers to them. And it makes all of us look bad.

Rude is rude, period. The people that come in and "camp out" covering all available space are just a plain PIA and they know it.

I used to run into folks like that rock climbing. They would hang ropes on 6 different climbs and use 1 or 2 and pitch a hissie
if you ask them to move their rope over so you could climb.

There's ways to fix their little band wagon but I won't say it here.

It is very interesting how things haven't changed that much in the past 40 years. I was at a similar place shortly after I was certified, and a large shop had dominated the quarry, with loud talking, braggart, instructors. To prove that one could be an instructor, without being a "SXXT", I became an instructor myself.

I do like Kelly's idea of putting in tank benches for cavedivers. Does anyone know who to contact over there?

On the ohter hand, I know a couple of very nice Mexican who are very good at doing kitting up tables, if you want their contact let me know!

I was talking about a quarry (an old open pit mine), not a cave. Or do you mean about the restriction at Morrison? That cave wasn't well explored, before it was dynamited, so it never got very famous.
