This is not lost on me. How it became the hipster swill at the same time, however, is very much lost on me...

I can only guess that the hipsters want to drink a lot of beer for not much money and have atrophied taste buds!

Not to minimize what happened to Andy....but you're safer in Branford. I lived/studied/worked in Boston and got mugged at knifepoint twice in so called "nice areas." Be careful out there!

What's wrong with PBR? And OM is pretty good if you're disciplined enough not to drink anything else. In High School (late '70s) we used to get USA Beer for $0.99 a six pack. Lowenbrow was still a good imported beer.

In the late 60s, I offered a Löwenbräu to a German visiting the US. His coment was, "You couldn't pay me to drink Export Löwenbräu". I suspect he would tell you that Löwenbräu was Never a good imported beer.

Yeah, the wife and I get a kick out of it when we go to this trendy little pizzeria in the town we live in. I'm not above drinking a PBR, but insist on the taste of a finer beer. Darn sure wouldn't drink one because I thought it was the cool thing to be doing.

I prefer red dog. Can't find it most places, but it's cheaper than PBR and OM, with a heavy hops flavor. The local beer store keeps a couple of 12-packs on hand and sure enough the one from last week is still there waiting for me the next week. I don't understand why I'm the only buying the stuff.

We heard the same thing from a German exchange student. But according to him there were no good beers in the US.
