    Default Vortex-round 2

    I saw this filed http://www.wjhg.com/news/headlines/F...3.html?ref=603
Vortex is a very advanced level cave dive, and I hope the family realizes this temptation could lead a less experienced diver into a dangerous situation. On facebook the family posts they are looking for a "fearless" diver, man what a play on ego.

Has anyone (qualified) in the cave community even spoken to the family about the futility (and danger) of this?

Well, if anyone wants the money, the first place to look is outside the cave, probably outside the country.

The mother has been adding cave divers on facebook, and also emailed a few instructors with reward offers.

Yes indeed. In places where there is a warm beach, scantily clad native girls and where drinks are served with little umbrellas in them.

Thats untrue. Two were chained to the airbell in open water, one had 800psi and the other was less than half full. Neither had regulators on them and one of the valves was busted(but pliers were strapped to the tank in order to open the valve). The third tank found had a regulator attached, and was found a little past the gate in the cave. I didn't get to see its contents analyzed or how much gas was in it, but it was negative.

If someone chooses to explore the cave in search of a 10K treasure, then so be it. We all know the risks when we enter the water as certified cavedivers.

Can you really blame the mother for trying to find her son?

True, but 10K may attract un-certified cave divers
