Technically, it isn't a cavern dive. It gets too deep, before it opens up.

I agree with Forrest. You may be able to see 'daylight' coming through the solution tube, but it is important to realize that that daylight disappears very quickly if there is a rainstorm or other divers mucking it up.

I should probably rephrase the question to something like, Is Eagles Nest a worthwile dive to do if you stay above 130'? From what I've been told there ball room is huge and there is plenty to see there. Being from Bradenton it also has the advantage of being much closer to home the most other sites.

My plan would be to tie into the mainline near the bottom of the solution tube, then explore the perimeter without exceeding 130'. Does this dive sound feasable for an Apprentice Level Diver?

Can be done, but be prepared to abort, if the vis is low in the ballroom. It gets like that for several days, after heavy rains.

Well once you pay at the iron ranger it’s a 45min drive down that dirt road to get to the sink. In the ballroom you can hit 200ft if you don’t pay attention. The recommended level of training is full cave, trimix & 100 full cave dives. There have been close calls, incidents & fatalities of those who did and those who didn’t have the recommended training.

Its your choice, Its your life, Its everyone’s site, chose wisely!

A minor point, perhaps, but could we persuade Walter (DeepSea) to uncheck the "Cavern" designation on his site for the EN entry? It's flagged as both "Cave" and "Cavern" and probably should just be "Cave," as are the other "biguns" like WW, & the Diepolders etc....
