Don't worry he was just using you as an example. Somebody had to get called out. Just think if all of the Bills and Ted you are saving from ridicule.Originally Posted by hfig

Have you already seen at least one diver certified to "PADI cave" to judge it and make a conclusion that its standards are lower than other non "pure" (i.e. dirty) greed agency?
So PADI recognized the dangerous attraction of caves to open water divers and coined the design of a sign that is supposed to warn divers. I personally don't see anything wrong with it, neither I see more hypocrisy in this than in any other diving related business (which is always full of hypocrisy no exceptions). Design perhaps could be better but if people want to nail it to the wall tells that consumers recognize the product very well and it has at least commercial success.
"Any Tom, Dick and..."? So who you consider yourself some kinda elite? If you are indeed an elite (which is perfectly fine) then PADI will not hurt your business because I think they are aiming just for those Tom and Dicks.
Besides like I said I've seen PADI cave diving centers advertising panel on NSS-CDS site. I have no opinion on if this agency is "doing it right" but I know some people put them in a category of "band wagon" just like PADI.
ARY, I went to your website. Thanks - I'll be having DOS nightmares for the next week.![]()
Whoever said money can't buy love never bought a puppy.
Ary, I am no elite and do not have the pretension of saying so and NO I haven't seen a PADI Cave Diver. I'd be curious to see one and also would like to be able to see his/her skill set. But as this is not an Agency bashing thread let's not go too far off topic. Just quickly to say that PADI saw the potential of Cave Diving and are, I say it again, "jumping on the ban wagon". Again, it is the instructor that will certify or not, the diver. Not the agency. But who would like to promote such a course when, by logic, you would have to be an instructor from another agency, agency who has an established reputation in overhead training! If it's not by greed! Not to sound pesimistic but I think PADI does not stand a chance in the overhead. My point of view, only.
Scuba diving is not for everybody, I know, I've been teaching it for 15 years, I have a good experience to say that and as a cave diver, I can say that cave diving is not for any Tom, Dick and ...sorry, Harry!!!
As for the sign, I think you missed my point. Nothing wrong with it just that it is copyrighted by PADI. And that is what surprises/amuses me!
On the NSS CDS site there is an ad from PADI and once you click it sends you to there "Blog" where they announce that if you are certified as a cave instructor and if Course Director you can apply your guidelines and then teach divers and guess what...instructors!!! When you see the prerequisite to become a Full Cave Instructor from IANTD or even GUE...
By the way, what is the point of your webpage? I tried to get in but "not lucky" enough!
Saludos,
Jason
