While the tannic water might be bad for cave diving - it is incredibly important for aquifer recharge and provides much needed nutrients for cave organisms.... River reversals into springs are actually one of the reasons there are any caves to dive in Florida at all. River water during floods can dissolve a lot of limestone - which makes caves (or at least makes them bigger).
