I learned my mistakes and won't ask her to join me for anymore cave diving TV shows.
And that's the thing.... The only "cave diving TV shows" being produced these days, it seems, are those that play to that fear.... "All Danger.... All the time."

Like I say... we need the "Cave Diving Channel!" We need shows produced out there which say, "Yes, it's dangerous, but if you get the proper training, and follow all the rules and dive within your limits and experience, you go home at EOD!"

I guess that kind of show doesn't bring home the ratings....

I think you are watching the "TCDC" right now, and it would still scare "civilians"

Perhaps, but at least we get to control the message a bit better...

Did anybody else catch the "science" implication in the show? The suggestion was that we are experiencing a trend of global warming experienced before, and the implication is that the bahamas and many coastal cities may soon be under water. How's that for drama?

It wasn't all danger all the time. It was overly dramatic at some points, but the majority of the show wasn't about the risk of certain death as I remember it.

Yes. I thought that was interesting. The level of sand from the deserts, etc being an indicator. You don't have to worry though, that science and research stuff is all bunk. Global warming is a myth

Maybe for you and I, but I think the "civilians" (those who think we're crazy for doing this) will see it that way (ie. only remember the danger parts)...

It doesn't matter if it's cave diving or sky diving or lion taming, perceived danger from the point of view of those that don't know or understand will always be ripe for the plunder by the media.

This is why I believe it's important in a relationship to establish trust. "Trust that I will do what's right for 'us', including keeping myself as safe as possible, within reason." This may mean in my driving, my diving, or in controlling my urge to explain the subtleties of Mozart to a gang of rappers hanging out in a really gnarly part of Orlando.

A family member once told me, "I don't know anything about this cave diving stuff and it looks really dangerous to me. I trust you though, and know that you'll be smart about it and do it right." In return, I promised to always follow safe diving practices and listen to my gut.

Maybe if the wives in these threads were presented with it like that, it would help. ? I dunno...never had a wife

That video ROCKS! I especially like it when Mike pulls the rocks out of his pockets, and the look on her face! Priceless!

Yes, Mike didn't over play the danger so families wouldn't get scared. However any cavediver watching it would be scared out of their wits!
