They're too bright! I am not sure you'll find many bad things about Salvo. In the few cases where something did go wrong, they fix it. They have some of the best service around.
To expand a bit, I dive the new 21W LED and love it. My buddy dives the 12W and loves it (super small too). We have a 35W that we use for video lighting and it works great.
Good luck!

My Salvo 12w LED turned into a crappy strobe light during its first dive. (ok, might have been second, I forget...)
They replaced it at Salvo without too much hassle. More than I was expecting, considering that I had been assured via email that they would replace it, but I was in and out of the shop in under 10 minutes, so it wasn't that bad either.
I HATE the soft handle. Don't waste your time with it, get the hard goodman. And I hate it too. Pops off the head way too easily. You'll have to tie it on with bungee, and even then a clumsy son of a gun like me can knock it off if you shove your arm through your harness just right with a bottom timer on your wrist and the lighthead clipped off. I would get the 21 watt if I were you only because the mount bolts to the head. If you could get the 12 watt with an aluminum head more like the 21 watt, without bothering with the stupid clip on goodman handle, this light would be much better. The 21 watt solves both of my annoyances with this light. (I'd also rather have a switch on the canister, but I have gotten used to the twisting head and don't dislike it nearly so much as the pop on goodman)
I've put 40 dives on the light since getting the head replaced and have had no further problems. I have been told by some workers at Salvo that changes have been made to the design to deal with the initial problems with the light flickering, and I'm confident that they are producing a quality product.
I had a problem w/ the switch. I called Corey he said send it down. I shipped it on Mon night and had it back in the water the next Sat. It worked fine no more 5-setting switch now it is just on and off. No problems since.

Salvo customer service is amazing, which is why I'll continue to purchase their products. If there was a problem, I have no doubt they'll fix it.
I've only had the chance to dive it a few times, but I recently bought a Salvo 12W LED head with two of the 'handheld' batteries they show with the 9W LED.
2.5 hours of runtime per battery, no cord, no cannister, and the LiIon batteries make it light enough to be comfortable. I'm pleased with the light output, it's quite bright, definitely brighter overall than a 10W HID. It will go for at least 2.5 hours, I haven't run one until it cuts off yet.
Another thing I like is that it's not just a laser beam. It has an easily discernable spot, but also plenty of light to illuminate your surroundings. Makes for better periphreal vision.
It would of course be nice if it were a bit smaller, but the only real problem I see so far is using it with a handle. I currently have a soft handle attached with a clip and zip ties. This works ok, but it would be nice to have a provision on the light to more positively attach it. The clip alone is just not tight enough.
Part of the problem is that where the handle needs to attach is on the battery case. So if I have to change batteries I'd have to re-ziptie the clip and everything.
I think each battery needs to have a wrist lanyard also. If that handle pops off, or you just happen to drop it out of your hand you don't want it sinking into 4' of poofy mud, or dropping into some inaccessible crevice in the breakdown.

Both handles are completely usable, yes. But I do not like the loose feel of the elastic handle. The light head would and could move no matter how tightly I held it, due to the elasticity of the elastic... I much prefer the hard handle, but both are usable.
I pointed out a solution to the problem, then the fact that I am an inherent clutz, trying to poke fun at myself. I'm clumsy sometimes and I'll admit itBut I've lost the handle other times too before putting on the bungee, and it's so simple to add bungee and avoid the problem for the most part, until you are frantically trying to get into your gear to jump in the water as you roast in your 5mil farmer john with hooded vest in the Florida afternoon in the sun by Devil's.....
I was moving too fast is all, and wanted to poke some fun at myself

Glad you love me mate, would be ecstatic if you were a good looking brunette about 5'5" with hazel eyes who lived in Ocala and loved me....
Just to be clear: I love my light. It has some issues which I have found simple solutions for, and Salvo took care of me when I had a defective product. I would give this product a very high reccomendation, but would suggest going for the 21 watt, or at the very least, pick up a foot of 3/16" bungee while you are at the shop buying the 12 wattGreat product!!!
Thank you all for your input, I believe I can feel comfortable with a Salvo light.
You can absolutely feel comfortable with it. Awesome products, and even better customer service to back it up. I had an SR2 first stage from them that I got new that had crazy IP creep. I called Corey, and he said to send it on up. Got it back 4 days later, works like a charm! I also have a fixed focus 10w HID, and I love it!
