now I'm curious what video they sourced as a disaster??
Why yes that was me inshorts and a t-shirt
oops, a drysuit @ the 700' marker
They merely swipe content from others and repackage it...poorly. But since they have monetized these videos, they void the fair use stipulations and are violating copyrights from a fair number of folks.

FYI - two of the videos that used my content have been removed by YouTube due to copyright claims I submitted, with a third one I submitted later currently under review. For anyone that finds this channel has used their content without permission and attribution, I would encourage you to submit a claim if you'd like the improper/unauthorized use removed.

Stealing video content is an ongoing thing. There was an incident on Scubaboard where a diver's vacation footage from Stingray City on Grand Cayman was being used in a fake video of Steve Irwin's death. Like a lot of these cases, the fake video got far more views that the original.
YouTube is pretty good about take-downs.

The offender is requiring me to pursue legal action to prevent YouTube from reinstating their videos. In doing so, they provided their information; in case anyone else is interested in defending their copyrighted material, I am passing it along...

How can you sue him when he is in Holland? AFAIK monetizing has no bearing on whether something is 'fair use' or not. I mean look at youtube. Half of the stuff on there is stolen content by some a-hole that's repackaging other people's footage with some missinformation to make money.
For example, all these 'reaction' channels do nothing but using other people's stuff. There must be reason they're not getting sued constantly.
I'm on your side and I hate all these cave disaster channel scumbags, but I would hate to see you lose a bunch of money in legal fees for nothing.
As it turns out, he violated Dutch and EU IP and copyright laws, as well as US copyright laws. Once advised of these facts, he has apparently opted to withdraw his counter notification and is removing the content.
Yes, content theft has run rampant on YouTube. Defending your IP rights is like a game of whack-a-mole, but doing nothing allows the issue to fester.
