Default Peacock Springs, 3/14 and 3/16 / Waterhole?

My wife and I dove the main tunnel and the Peanut Line on the 14th, and the Peanut Line to the Olson Bypass on the 16th. The flow, which was noticeable in the Solution Tube on the 14th, had dropped by the 16th, and the water had become less tannic. And I think the water level at the surface had dropped a little, but I can't be sure of that.

The parking lots, which were packed on Thursday, had also cleared. Someone there said that Cathy's was like Grand Central Station. Surprisingly, Peacock was considerably less busy on Thursday.

Our biggest surprise was the lack of a line marker or a visible jump line at the Waterhole. Someone said that Lamar Hires had cut the line back and removed the jump, because Waterhole has been siphoning. (Another diver we met who'd dived Peacock just after it opened said he had to hold on during deco at the spring to keep from being blown away.) Does anyone know if this is so, or whether the Waterhole was closed for other reasons?

Waterhole is not closed, and it doesn't have a history of syphoning. Frequently just before a flood, there is a 50ft lower section that will fill with tannic water because there is a conduit from the river, so I would expect some dark, low viz areas. The only thing that is closed is Waterhole as an entrance point due to erosion control. There will be some changes in the the near future by the line committee, and pulling back some lines, and some not clearly marked without double line arrows can be in the plan, but it hasn't launched yet. The divers description after a flood to encounter high flow at Peacock is accurate. I remember right after a flood doing the grand traverse, which was a drift dive, I got pinned against the log that is in the upstream Olsen side.

Waterhole goes from being marked to not marked on a daily basis. If there tomorrow, I will mark it. Two line arrows pointing to the closest exit.

When do we get to hear about the plan for the lines?

Or when the hell is Lamar going to leave the lines alone (assuming the info by the OPis correct). I dont remember electing him to move crap around.

I have no reason to believe Lamar is removing the Waterhole jump markers. Lamar did the experiment with the two oversized, white cookies for jump markers on the mainline that started this current round of directional/non-directional marker changes.

    I agree
There are people who make changes independent of anybody

We bypassed the Waterhole line, in part because the line wasn't visible from the main Peanut Line and in part out of concern that the line had been cut back as a precautionary measure. We went to the Olsen Bypass instead. Visibility up the Bypass was excellent; judging from the debris on the line, it looked as if people hadn't been up there in some time.

Hi All, We are planning to go to Madison Blue Springs in a few days. Is it also tannic right now? I want to make sure it will be clear before driving eight hours to get to it. Thanks!
