So while diving waterhole today we discovered a large dive rite reel which has since been turned into dive outpost. upon mentioning our discovery to a friend he told me that back in the 80s when a diver surfaced at waterhole that they discovered 2 bodies that may have been linked to the ted bundy killings. Can anyone who has been around long enough shed some light on this story ?

I have never heard such a story but I have only been diving up there since 1998.

I believe your friend was pulling your leg. First of all Bundy was captured in 1978, so those bodies would have had to be there for quite some time before discovery in the 80's. Secondly, if that were the case, it would be legend and everyone around here would know it. It would be passed on in a quiet voice, as though it were a secret, but it wouldn't really be a secret. I've never heard any rumor of bodies being found in the park, and I've been associated with it for 5 years now.

FWIW, I first dove Peacock in 1975, with Sheck Exley. He was the primary recovery person back then. If there had ever been any bodies floating in Waterhole, he would have recovered them, and he pretty much told me about all the ones he had done.

Ted Bundy?s final victim 12 year old Kimberly Leach?s remains were found at/near Suwannee River State Park. At the same time many of us were cave diving weekly in the area. She was abducted in front of her school in Lake City. Bundy was a pure evil monster.
